This is the second time we've stayed at the Old Mill and once again we loved our stay. The family who run it are very welcoming and make you feel like nothing is too much trouble. It's only a short taxi ride from Yarm (£5-£6), which is where we spent our afternoon and evening.

We'd already been told to feel free to pop in to the Mill for a drink when we returned and we're so pleased we took them up on the offer. Sat by the open fire, next to the Christmas tree, with a few festive tunes in the background, just having a chat and a drink with the owners, It was perfect! There aren't many places you can stay and experience this, especially not at their very reasonable prices.

When we got back to our room (The Tool Shed) it was cosy and warm and the bed was really comfy, so comfy we almost missed check-out! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something unique and personal. The rooms are modern and clean but respect the heritage of the original Mill, they compliment each other well.

Comfortable bed,  warm room,  clean  & the fox covert pub is only 5 mins walk away.

Poor experience. Upon arrival owner greeted us in bare feet & had forgotten to make a note of our booking so had no clue as to who we were. Found us a room called The Tool Shed. Upon entering, the door catches on the internal rug causing a trip hazard. Room not clean to any decent standard. Dust on surfaces & cobwebs visible all around the edges. Bed sheets looked as though someone had a one night stay. Not crisp & neat as you would expect in a fresh room. Bedside table unstable to place a hot drink on. TV fixed to the  wall approx 2ft from the ceiling so had to lay down on the bed to watch, not very comfortable! Mattress not supportive. Pillows old & lumpy.

Empty bottle (presumably for water) & 2 glasses too big to get under the bathroom tap. Kettle dirty with old water in it also too big to fill under the tap so had to use mugs to fill.

Ensuite sink far too small to use for washing, only just big enough to wash your hands after using the loo.
No shelf to place soap, toothbrush/paste etc. Under sink cupboard dirty inside & out.
Toilet lid & seat hinge too tight so both lifted up together. Toilet roll holder hanging off the wall. No hooks on back of bathroom door, bracket was there but the hooks were missing. Worst of all, the electric shower temperature control knob had been fitted around the wrong way. The arrow turned to warm/hot gave a cold shower and vice a versa. 

With all the fantastic meat/incredients in Yorkshire,Breakfast was mediocre. Bacon fried to an inch of its life then kept in a hot oven so was very brittle. Basic sausages, egg, mushrooms & tomatoe. Not very nice surroundings, cold open plan room off the family kitchen with family members walking around in there pyjamas. 

Pity we were requested to pay when we arrived as I would not have paid the £65 + £8.40 for breakfast.

The owners need to take heed of the reviews & implement a cleaning programme. With small investment and some TLC this could be a great b&b. Not worthy of the 4* visit england plaque displayed.

Stayed here  in the woodshed the other  week and it was amazing stayed here last night in the granary abd 100 poubd for a night with privet hot tub but the hot tub had been turned off  so it never got hot till this morning by then we had to check out and no staff about to make a complaint so i payed 100 poubd for a room with hot tub i could not use
