This is a really sweet and quirky little place to have coffee and cake and waste some time looking at the crafts. It's like a rambling old farm house in disrepair - it probably was at some point. The staff are really cheery and the coffee was very good. I've knocked off half a point because I think the cake was a bit old and dry. It was still very yummy and I really enjoyed my visit here. The plaque pictured near the front door is really interesting and I really hope it's preserved for future generations. We sat near the old wood burner which is charming but... and it's a big but... I'm reliably informed by my co cake eater that even the most efficient wood burners create as much pollution as 5 HGVs, heck! Really? There goes the other half point, sorry.
I come here with my dad for a bite to eat in the afternoon. The café staff are lovely and serve tasty, simple food like jacket potatoes, macaroni cheese and of course tea and cake. It's a source of sadness to me that at some point soonish, this place and its beautiful adjacent fields pictured will be turned into a luxury homes development.
The five stars are for cafe. Excellent service & light lunch. The craft areas are looking sad & empty. This place should stay open. It is unique & offers crafters an opportunity to show/sell their wares. Please keep the building if land has to be sold. Will keep coming as long as it is open.
It's a shame, a lot of the crafters seem to have gone now. It looks half empty. The fabric shop seems to sell more wool than fabric now too. The little cafe is just the same which is fantastic. This place used to be bustling with people. Hiring bikes, the pottery place and the craft hall and cafe.
Real shame half of it has closed but really happy to find the cafe still open, the food still delicious and the staff very friendly! Great place to stop on a cycle/ ride/ run or walk. They take card and very family friendly.
The Craft Hall is closing for good on 31st January, and there is very little stock in the sales area, so much so that I wouldn't bother to go there again. Great shame as I have been a customer for over 30 years and will miss it greatly. I'm also very sorry for the ladies who run the cafe!!
Took a walk on the cuckoo trail and decided to pop in for a cold drink at the tea room. This place needs some serious tlc, play area over grown with nettles and weeds, slide looks like its falling apart as does the building. Benches, seats and tables way past their best and the cake tasteless. Shame as it used to be very nice.
Short walk up the Cuckoo Trail from Polegate. Nice tea room with great cakes, good service. Craft Centre is a collection of rather ramshackle farm buildings but with an eclectic mix of individual craft stalls. Worth a visit.
Lovely Olde Worlde cafe with arts crafts and bits and pieces. The Soup well chosen even though not home made. The vegetable lasagne was also lovely. The Ploughman's Lunch was good The cakes were awesome Plenty for the kids to play on and look at including the old walk at the back where the train line used to run. If you are looking for old, country, traditionally Eng look sh style place to chill this place could be for you. Coffee was also good. Ladies that served us were really quite lovely. Done of the art and photos for sale might also be to your liking.
A place that seems like it's been forgotten in time. Holes in the wall, doors rotting, cobwebs and lackluster staff. My partner had fond memories from her childhood but I honestly don't think any money has been spent on it since then 25 years ago. A hard business to be in, with not the greatest of locations. Food was reasonable, cost was also the same.
