Stayed here on Valentine’s, Overall very nice. Spa was lovely. Rooms were lovely. Majority of staff were lovely. Breakfast was not very nice. The bar staff were very rude to us, I assumed it was because we were younger as they didn’t seem to treat the other guests how they treated us. They weren’t very friendly and didn’t really want to serve us maybe because they thought we didn’t have as much money as the older guests ?
Great place, newly opened spa, which was fantastic. Stayed in the cottage, which was great. The food was a bit OTT for our liking and very pricey. Breakfast is not great. I would have liked better quality sausage and bacon for the price you pay to stay. Staff are really friendly.Rooms: 5/5
Honestly the best relaxing break we've had. The hotel itself is so beautifully kept and quaint, the tree top spa is such an amazing addition. The staff were lovely and Whitney at front desk was supper helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and really good quality. Can't wait for our next stay. Thank you for a great experienceRooms: 5/5
Service was friendly and welcoming...Sunday roast beef choice was poor. Beef was tough & slices were too thick. The knife was not sharp enough to cut it. Not enough veg....strange, soggy Yorkshire puddingService: 4/5
Service - Food - Venue….Exceptional as to be expected. As a previous review had mentioned price, we’re all to aware that the hospitality costs have soared, and there’s only so much of this that can be absorbed before passing it on to the consumer. At £19 for fish and chips, the bar is set high however; The Old Inn delivers! Definitely worth adding this little gem to your foodie list!
Absolute pleasure from start to finsh, staff were very friendly and happy to help with anything you need. Dinner was fantastic from the meal it's self to the waiting staff and a personal favourite the fish tank which we had the pleasure of sitting beside best table in the restaurant imo Room was fantastic, plenty of space and bed was unbelievably comfortable All in all would honestly give them 6 stars if I could highly recommend
We were looking around for a one nighter to warm up for Christmas and picked this hotel. We were particularly impressed with their long list of provided amenities on their Website, especially the included -Carpet -Electric kettle -Bed linen and towels -toilet with toilet paper. -Heating -And a “staircase to access the upper floors” With this impressive list, we were reassured that we were really in for a treat. More seriously, this is a beautiful old village inn with plenty of proper up market amenities- hugely popular locally and I can see why. It has some 30+ rooms. Arrival at reception just off the main street of Crawfordsburn village, was very homely at a single reception table with a really helpful lady and a real fire blazing in the lobby grate. No problems there – all was properly and pleasantly handled. Our room was at the front of the hotel, as were the two other rooms we booked. Somewhat smallish but old fashioned and charmingly furnished with all amenities you would expect from an upmarket establishment, slippers, gowns etc. See my photographs. However, If you don’t want street noise, ask for a room at the back of the hotel. The passing traffic did not bother us but it could be quite intrusive for some people. Wi-Fi was fast and free and there were adequate power and USB points. The beds were comfortable and there was excellent central heating, so good in fact that we had to open the window overnight to get cool! Before dinner, we had a drink in the pleasant hotel bar spoiled by, sadly, a somewhat surly barman who couldn’t raise a smile. Ok - he was rather busy but that didn’t change his very slow/disordered service and poor customer facing attitude when interacting. I think the hotel need to a double up on “behind bar” service to speed things up to an acceptable level and b ask the barmen to behave like barmen worldwide and socialise with customers just a tiny bit. We then moved to the restaurant – it is effectively two large adjoining rooms. Service was super – nearly entirely female and their attitude and manner were prompt and impeccable – we were very impressed with the staff well done Natasha in particular. They had a good wine list and a vegetarian menu was available. The food was on the good side of adequate with a varied menu of dishes. It was quite expensive – six pax at £300+ including some alcohol but not unduly so. The restaurant was about 75% occupied on a weekday so they must have gotten their price setting levels correct. Breakfast was a “buffet plus” service – basic buffet layout plus waiter order for tea and coffee and hot food. I find many hotels fail on Breakfast – this one was adequate but no more than that. The service was helpful and fine but the food was uninspiring, standard fare of eggs, bacon etc. There was nothing on the buffet of much interest and all we took from the buffet table was a few mini croissants – we had to ask for butter. The hot food was neither well-cooked nor well-presented but at least it filled us up for the day. The spa was excellent and used by all my family - they tell me it was very nice indeed and I attach some photographs including my grandson enjoying himself. A summary – for all my moaning about the bar and restaurant, this hotel is well worth a stay. It a typical “up market” village inn and they get a lot of things right but one or two areas need improvement, obviously. All six of us really enjoyed our short stay.
Where do I start we got this hotel as a Christmas present booked online got there greated so nicely by staff then showed to our room , the room actually didn't suit us as we both quiet big so asked could we get moved to the most amazing large room fusia spotless clean . Went to the bar for a few drinks then to the spa which was unreal so relaxing, back up got ready down for dinner and drinks . Had the best sleep in the large bed dark room then up to a beautiful breakfast , would highly recommend this hotel can't wait to go back staff there so great and friendly
Had a lovely Sunday lunch recently. Food is lovely and plenty on your plate. Service is excellent with the staff being very friendly and smiley and always happy to help.Service: 5/5
