We did not stay, but enjoyed a family birthday day meal which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The burgers, and Sunday Beef or Chicken roast were great ,both were accompanied with the usual veg and gravy. This is a dog friendly pub well supported by the locals as well as a few from further afield. The choice of drinks is vast and we can definitely recommend the house red. Two of the group had fish + chips which arrived in a light batter and were quite "gorgeous" . 3 had the beef burger with chunky chips again highly rated. Meals were between £16 / £17 main meals. They did allow and accommodated a birthday cake which they brought out for us. The staff were happy + relaxed and easily dealt with a group of 7. Noteworthy details: Dog friendly pub, with doggy treats and bowls of water. Outside seating area which could accommodate 20 plus persons. The car park is limited and the spaces are tight.
My husband and I loved this Inn. The staff, accomodations, pub and food were exceptional in every way. We booked 6 nights, our first time in England and fell in love with the countryside because of our experience here. The staff is friendly, competent, helpful and fun. The room was very, very clean, tastefully appointed, big, comfy and we slept really well. The food...consistently yummy. Great chef! Caroline, Amy, Joe...staff who were so helpful....in many ways introduced us to "the best" of England and we are forever grateful.
We booked 6 rooms here the day before our wedding for the bridal party to stay. The hotel made it easy for us to book them out and were flexible with our requirements. The rooms were great value and are really nice. The pub serves tasty food and the breakfast was just what we needed to start the day!
We went to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy, but still some empty tables. The front and rear carpark were full, so had to park on the road. We had a reservation and were quickly shown to our table, menus already laid out. Only two staff were waiting, so service was a little slow. Food was good in flavour, quality and quantity.
Our second visit here and equally delicious both times with a new Christmassy menu this time. Great service, wonderful food and a lovely, traditional pub atmosphere. Very tempted to stay overnight some time but can't really justify it as we live in Bath!
Perfect for an overnight stay, very close to the M4. We had a modern and spacious room with an en-suite. The bed was comfortable and the room warm. We stayed for breakfast and can honestly say the cooked breakfast was perfect! The staff were all helpful and friendly. We would stay again!
Pleasant and well decorated country pub with lovely and reasonably priced rooms and freindly staff. Great stopping point on a trip to Bristol. But not quite perfect. 2 issues result in my reduction to 4 star: 1. A smoke alarm LED in my room bright enough to read by made it hard to sleep. 2. The toasted almonds on My desert were slightly burnt, ruining the taste somewhat. Otherwise excellant and I would come again albeit with a blindfold and a different desert choice! Rooms: Pleasant and tasteful rooms. Two downsides, 1. A smoke alarm LED out of reach in the ceiling that was bright enough to read by all night. No manual bathroom light switch + a 20 minute timer meant it was impossible to sleep for 20 minutes after a nocturnal visit! Food & drinks: Very good, but room for improvement. Starter excellant. Main very good, but not enough saucxe/gravy, toasted almonds in desert where slightly burnt, resulting in an unfortunate bitter taste.
We stopped off for a quick lunch and we're delighted. I am vegan and had a beautifully cooked meal. Our server was very pleasant and the atmosphere was welcoming.Service: 5/5
Good food. Nice atmosphere. They didn't ask us if we wanted pud. Good for our waist lines of course.
Lovely place to stay. The room was much roomier than expected. The pub is lovely and cosy with excellent food & service.Rooms: 5/5
