The home has made dramatic improvements and the management seem to really care about improving the home. There was a lovely barbecue during pride that was a lovely event
This care home is just horrendous. My mother was “physically harmed” whilst in their care. She was transferred from QE on 3rd March 2023 and there for 2 months. During that time she was not assisted to eat at meal times,, they were never taken to a dining table, food was horrendous, no fruit or fresh vegetables , her hair became matted, she was dirty and unwashed, her nails were filthy. She was “physically harmed” overnight which we know wasn’t a fall or by another resident but despite meetings & requests We are still waiting to hear exactly how she was “overhandled”. Staff didn’t interact with residents. I have photos of staff asleep whilst they should be caring for residents. Thankfully we moved mum as soon as possible after the incident where she was injured to a fabulous care home in Greenhithe where the staff are professional, kind, engaging and know what quality care is. My 91 year old mum didn’t receive care at The Oaks, The management and staff with one exception from what I observed were woefully inadequate. I raised a safeguarding complaint and it was upheld. I also raised concerns with the QCC. They’ve recently been reviewed by QCC as Inadequate.
DO NOT PUT LOVED ONES HERE!!! 'The Oaks care home New Eltham rated inadequate by CQC' This dump will never change - https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/24040328.oaks-care-home-new-eltham-rated-inadequate-cqc/
My mum was put there from the Queen Elizabeth hospital in October while I was on holiday. She had just a nightie and was put in an ambulance. When I went to see her it was awful! Do not put anyone in this home. She came out suffering from malnutrition she couldn’t talk or walk. I took her home and paid for a full time live in carer. They put them to bed at 5pm if they’re asleep they don’t feed them. If you can’t chew food they still give them pizza and sandwiches half brown bread and half white bread not 50/50 kings mill either. When we visited her there was a man in her room taking her cakes that we got her he must have been so hungry. The wheelchair they pushed them around in had no foot rests. Left in arm chairs for up to 8 hours absolute dump!!! It should be shut down this is down to the social services they don’t check where they put these elderly people. But they wouldn’t like it if it was one of their own parents. Also when I removed her from the home I wasn’t given any hand over notes to give to the care worker and the GP.
Worked there for 5 months and that was enough for me the place was not run well at that time, was treated like a work horse expectations were unrealistic and not practical I hope it has improved for the sake of the care of the vulnerable people there. The staff morale was low, somthing I hate to see. I hope they are all doing well there. Only for another fab nurse to support I would not have tolerated it as long as I did! I hope and wish everyone well there and do miss my staff and residents I very much loved. The meetings to put more work onto us lasted up to 1hr 30 minutes it was insane...it is not sustainable workloads This is only my reflection of my role there I hope sincerely it has massively improved.. if anyone I worked with sees this review it is not a reflection of you it was just the job role x
We had a very similar experience to Pauline . Malnutrition, dehydration, chest infection, maybe these are explainable, but global bed sores , and eventually having to be rush to A&E at the Queen Elizabeth… all this in under three weeks . !!!!!!
My wife and I together with my 96 year old mother recently attended a garden party at The Oaks where we had a lovely afternoon meeting the staff and residents. The gardens are so peaceful and well kept and we were overwhelmed by the care and individual attention given to the residents by the staff. A very pleasant time was had by us all.
My dad was a resident here for around two and a half years. The care he received was of a high quality and he enjoyed his time here far more than the other care facilities he was in. The staff were always very caring and professional and it is good to know that he was well looked after in his advanced years.
I can't wait to work at HC one company
Please if you love your elders don't use nursing homes. Having said that this place has friendly service but the whole place smells of number 2s
