Cafe in the building is a pleasant space to sit, although lunchtimes can be very busy and service a bit slow. Electronic ordering via touchscreen and pick up at the counter a la McDonald’s. Food was okay and not too bad value given limited options on campus.
Ordered a burger and removed all options on the screen to make it plain because problems with certain foods/sauces.nnWas surprised to find dressing sauce as had no idea it would be in it as it was not on the screen to remove things or description on the big board.nnApologised and asked if could get new burger without sauce.nnThe staff member was unfriendly and said out loud to the chef behind her that I wanted a plain burger but that I didn’t remove the dressing sauce - in a way that made me seem stupid that I couldn’t do such a simple thing and like I’m purposely trying to cause them problems.nnThere was nothing really wrong with this though as I understood I may have been in the wrong in some way and felt bad that I may have made their jobs harder.nnHowever, the plain burger did come - it was thrown onto my table I kid you not lmao and she said ‘Are you the big burger no sauce guy?’ before she threw it.nnI had no idea what to say to being called the ‘big burger no sauce guy’ and was stunned for a moment and nodded.nnAfter she plopped it on my table she walked off shouting ‘YOURE WELCOME BY THE WAY!’ - probably because I didnt reply because I was so confused on why she threw a burger at the table and gave me my new name as the ‘big burger no sauce guy’nnI’m sure you’ve had a bad day but so might your customers - not really appropriate shout at or to treat anyone this way even if you’re a staff member.
A vast waste of space! Great voids exist where useful office and lecture theatres should be. The food at the cafes is disgusting and/or overpriced. Sausage muffin the most disgusting I have ever tasted. The orange juice the most expensive I have ever found.nLovely helpful staff happy to chat and help. The design could only be approved by incompetents. A grand waste of university money.
Beautiful new building with clean, ultra modern lecture theatres that are colourful and air conditioned. As a first year studying computer science and physics I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time here.
Super cool building, great host of the European Hyperloop Week 2023.
