This is my third time here being that my company has an office in the building. I just love the atmosphere here. The rooms are super cool and wonderfully maintained. The aesthetics is classy too
As a student in UoE, I prefer self-studying in Murchison House rather than Murray Library and JCMB. It has 2 direct bus 41 and UoE shuttle and a very close indirect bus42 to get there. The seats seem always abundant for students to use. Recommended:nnTwo things need to improve: first, the door of main gate seems locked for student and only the person hold a stuff card can access; second, it will close around 6 or 7 and there isn’t an accurate closing time on Google and Uni website.
I used to work here circa 2010-2012 at the British Geological Survey, so sad they moved out.. the name Murchison house comes from Roderick Murchison, a famous geologist from the 19th century I still remember going to the basement and reading their old notes and descriptions
Great lecture theatres and study spaces, though G.26 can be a bit chilly with the AC always on full blast. G.09 has great chairs and large tables, and the study area just outside is lovely.
Best building to for studying, eating, sleeping and zoning out in. The one issue is the gd pillar in room G31.
