The Museum of Orange Heritage, Sloan's House
"The Museum of Orange Heritage at Sloan’s House, Loughgall is situated on Main Street, Loughgall. Loughgall, and in particular Sloan’s House, are key areas in the history of the Orange Order as it was here that the Institution was formed around the aftermath of the Battle of the Diamond in 1795. The Museum also displays an important collection of documents relating to the beginning of the Orange Order, including some of the first warrants signed. This site also includes Sloan’s Parlour, portraying the way it would have looked when the Orange Order was first formed there. The Parlour tells the story through graphics & audio visual technologies. This site also includes a permanent exhibition space, Sloan's Coffee Shop and research facilities."

Vast improvement from my last visit to Sloans House, Loughgall. Deduction of one point due to street parking only available within the village. No dedicated carpark. Wheel chair accessible entrance to both coffee shop and main entrance. Lift accessible to other floors within the building. The building foretelling the story of the Origins of the Orange Order in September 1795. With depicted scenes of the original signing of the first warrant. Staff were alot more approachable compared to its Belfast facility. This month is in commemoration of 100 year's of Northern Ireland's existence. Free admission until end of month? Was a much better visit than its Belfast City facility. Despite its smaller size.
A nice rural museum with many interesting features on the beginnings of the Orange Order. We visited as a group & our guide Dennis, was excellent! Well worth a visit!
Great place to learn the history of the Orange Order
My wife and I called in for lunch at sloans coffee shop then into museum, trevor was very informative and new his history, the museum was well stocked with a lot of history, a small gift shop and toilets are available on site and access to coffee shop aswell, if busy parking can be an issue, we'll worth a visit
Very poignant remembrance garden at the rear of the museum. The garden is very well maintained. Access can be gained via a steep path alongside the museum building. I last visited the museum itself in pre-COVID times and found it to be very interesting.
Went for an awards night for volunteers very interesting seeing some of the history on show unfortunately didn't have time to read it all.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
