My daughter goes here and she absolutely loves it she loves feeding the animals and doing forest school. She has grown so much as a little person since coming here.

My daughter, who is 4 has been attending for more that a year and I can not rate The Mohair Centre more highly. Lovely staff, amazing surroundings and a wonderful place for children to learn and play. I will be sending my other two children in the coming years and my eldest will be returning for holiday camps after she starts school. I feel it is the best start for my children and I love that they are/will be experiencing early learning in a mainly outdoors environment surrounded by welcoming and caring staff. BIG HUGE 5 STARS for this wonderful place.

Went to the mohair center at the weekend for an insight in what my eldest gets when we send her there, what a fantastic place, staff all very friendly and everything is perfect just what you want as a parent. Brilliant overall. Thank you.

My two children (3 & 4 years) have been attending The Mohair Centre nursery for just over a year now. All staff are friendly, helpful and caring, and the unusual setting on the farm makes for a unique experience for all of the children that attend the nursery. The nursery is split into three rooms for the different ages of children in attendence; babies (1 year olds), toddlers (2-3 year olds) and pre-schoolers (3-4 year olds starting school in the next September). There is a forest school day for each of the age groups, as well as a farm school day for pre-schoolers, much to my four-year-old's delight! Forest school usually takes place in its own dedicated, on-site field, or down at "the swamp"; a magical forested area with a pond and island! There is a straw-barn which offers outdoor-indoor play in wet weather, as well as three dedicated outdoor play areas for each of the three age groups. Animals include two ponies (Misty and Cracker), pigs (Betty, Marmite, Gonzo and their many piglets (which make delicious sausages!)), an array of goats and sheep (including Ben and Jerry, two friendly goats often in the entrance paddock), as well as lambs, four of which the children can bottle feed, an alpaca, a donkey, a myriad of small animals, all of which the children can handle under supervision, Terry and Norman the tortoises, chickens, ducks and geese (who have recently had seven gorgeous goslings!). The list goes on! The children have various opportunities to help tend to all of these animals, which has been great for my youngest's confidence. There is also an allotment, where the children grow and tend to their own fruits and vegetables. The Mohair Centre tends to be slightly more "child-centric" (in my opinion) than other nurseries I have visited, which really appeals to me. The children are encouraged to select their own activities (as opposed to adult-lead, structured activities day-in-day-out), while adults support them in these choices. The children are also offered the opportunity to be physically adventurous; the straw barn is an excellent facilitator for this as it's basically a barn lined with straw bales that the kids have the freedom to climb all over and burn off lots of energy! This does mean that I often pick up two little scarecrows and my house is covered in straw, but it's all good fun and they sure do sleep well at night! Food is all cooked fresh on the premises with quality ingredients and is always gobbled up by both of my monkeys. Lunch is the big, hot meal for the day and includes things like chicken casserole, fish cakes, shepherd's pie, etc. I think there's a veggie option, but I can't comment on what it might be! My eldest is going to start primary school in September and is sad to be leaving The Mohair Centre Nursery behind - fingers crossed she'll get a place at the seemingly excellent after school club come September!
