Don't know when it changed hands. We booked well in advance for 15 people (5 kids 10 adults) all the same - roast beef dinner and pudding. On arrival, great welcome. Chef/owner comes back after we have had a drink and time to settle. "Are you ready to order?" which seemed odd as this had been previously done. Eventually, the food starts to come out: vegetables, then a long pause, potatoes then main plate with the meat. We realised then (before the plates were all out) that that we did not have enough potatoes for even 2 each - but thought more must be coming - and by this point the vegetables are cooling fast. When the Chef asked if we needed anything else, we asked for gravy and if there were more potatoes and parsnips coming. He "huffed" and said "More potatoes? There aren't any more! I allocated 4 each!" Then continued to make comments such as " I forgot you Devon people eat a lot." We explained we did not have enough for two each and were told that he would make some more but that it would be 20 minutes before they would be ready. 10 minutes or so pass and out come 3 more potatoes and some parsnips. There was only enough gravy available to cover the potato that we each had (2 small gravy boats between 15!) We then saw dinner being taken to a table of 2 in the bar. The veg and potatoes that they were served between 2 was the same that had been given to us between 5-6! Pudding order was taken after lunch. One of our party asked if there was any cheesecake and was told that this was available. 6 ordered this but we were later told that the were only 3 available and so 3 people needed to choose something else. What came out (after a long wait) was poor. Hot puddings not disimilar to the Heinz ones you buy in a tin and lumpy, curdled custard with the 3 prized cheesecakes still frozen in the centre. We were offered 1 free ice cream for a member of our party who decided not to chose an alternative pudding, although he declined this offer. The list I think could go on and on. Bar seemed busy. It smelt of dog which is OK, it's not a town pub and bars welcoming to dogs is important to many people. But for £250 we all expected better. It also bears mentioning that we were charged full price for meals and puddings when in fact, it turns out, there is a set price for Sunday dinners which works out around £3 per head cheaper so we were also overcharged by £45!

Busy pub with an adequate carpark across the road. Friendly staff who accommodated our unannounced arrival cordially and quickly. The food was good pub grub and my companions certainly had no complaints. However the bun for my burger was tough and the 'melt' wasn't really there.

Lovely village pub. Several areas to sit with beautiful log burners. Very cosy place that allowed dogs within the pub area. A slight wait for the food but worth it as it was freshly cooked and tasted very good. Large portion sizes and well worth the money. Garlic bread or chips were served with the lasagne but the staff were quite happy to do salad as an alternative side. Service impeccable. Also has B&B although didn't stay, if to the same standard of the pub and restaurant would highly recommend.

Lovely village pub with delicious food. Bit of a wait for food but was told when ordered. Lovely landlords who made us welcome. Food was freshly cooked, piping hot, delicious and just what to expect from village country pub. No microwaved fast food here. Good luck to new owners.
