My family are extremely disappointed with the support/service offered by Chelmsford Magistrates court. My son is trying to schedule an appointment to make a statutory declaration ignorance of proceedings regarding a minor motoring offence. He was totally unaware of the original court proceedings in June 24 and personally visited court to arrange a meeting to make his statutory declaration. Despite personal visits to the court itself he has been constantly re-directed to their helplines and email addresses which don't respond, never mind help. He has now been told he must start paying the fine otherwise he'll be arrested etc despite being unaware of the case in the first instance and subsequently trying to follow the procedure within 21 days as required. I know times are tough financially but surely we need to ensure due process is followed/supported in the interests of fairness and justice.
Called three times this morning. Still no idea which of the courts I am supposed to be speaking with. First receptionist pretty much hung up second one gave me the wrong phone extension! Terrible service! I was unable to get through to the correct court in time and missed my appointment. Such to the level of total incompetence my case was dismissed. So much for good old British justice eh?
I’ve never been so unfairly treated in my life than I was at this place. I honestly thought that the truth always prevails but in my family case, judge Turner seems to believe everything that came out of the accusers mouth and that the crocodile tears and anxiety she displayed were real when it’s just a huge act of coercive abuse which still continues in my life to this day. Don’t have much faith in this place if you get Judge Turner. Apparently you are within your rights to ask for another judge which I would highly recommend. Supposedly he is a senior judge and whenever I had a different judge standing in they could see the issues but due to a hierarchy of respect they would not alter Judge Turner’s order so I couldn’t make any progress because of this one man. At the end of my case which went on for nearly 2 years I was left with a legal bill of £60,000 and Judge Turner would not allow any costs even though it was completely clear that I had done nothing wrong and nothing was ever proven against me. My accuser hid behind the legal aid system making force claims of domestic violence which funded her continual lies with absolutely no accountability by Judge Turner. Still to this day, eight years on I struggle to accept how unfairly treated I was for telling the truth in that court in a case that went on for years.
Great place to spend a few hours observing some of life’s finest people. I particularly like the ever changing group of people outside all of whom specialised in swearing, smoking and spitting. I made the mistake of wearing a suit which gained me some attention and being called words that I still don’t know the meaning of. I have a feeling they weren’t complimentary. Loved the reaction from friends and family of people who received fines and other penalties. Superb Day out!
Understand they are doing their jobs but, can't get hold of them, I have written a letter about my case and heard nothing. They have placed 4 orders that my ex has broken. The amount of times I have taken proof on my side to show irregularities, and he keeps being awarded. On the whole very very stressful when it doesn't need to be. I understand there are rules they have to follow, but surely after numerous breaches and missed hearings, when the judge is even annoyed with him, they should be saying no more now
Disgraceful service, my daughter had to go over her 3 children, long story about a bitter ex husband, and when we got there after a 2 hour drive the young lad on the desk told her the case had been postponed and she would get a phone call at 12 that day, we went for coffee and waited but the call never came. Cutting a long story short, the hearing did go ahead and she was put down as absent. She now has to wait until February for the next court date before we can see the children and she hasn’t seen them since September. She has sent a complain but I debt it will do any good. The guy should be reprimanded for his actions. This is people’s lives there dealing with
The worst shambles of a company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. On hold for ages to get through to a generic call centre where they know nothing about your case. Don’t waste your time or money you can’t actually speak to anybody with knowledge or authority
The staff members at the reception desk they are very friendly. I am disappointed that we have to be attending court for the 5th time, as the baby mother refuses to attend court, although she has received all of the court letters. My son and I have done everything that the court has requested but yet the mother has not been summoned to attend.... the sheer frustration of it all, and we don't feel that we had been listened to

My court starts at 10am and its almost 11am have been sitting in here from 9:30am still nothing very bad service for main court!
