A pleasant walk from the railway station admiring the view of the hills. I had two Westcoasts by Gower Brewery and a Modelo. I did order the better value for money Pacifico, but it wasn't available despite the app stating otherwise.
I am writing to raise a formal complaint about an incident that occurred at weatherspoons port Talbot on Remembrance day.nnMy 11-year-old son and I visited the pub at around 10:45 a.m. for breakfast. When ordering at the bar, the manager kindly informed us that there would be a short delay in service due to the upcoming two-minute silence, which we completely understood and respected.nnHowever, during the silence, approximately 30 seconds in, two waitresses came out of the kitchen carrying plates of food. They walked across the pub, jangling keys on their lanyards and stomping their feet and placing the food on a customer’s tables, before returning to the kitchen — and then repeating the same behaviour again.nnThe atmosphere in the pub was one of respect and reflection; especially as some of the people sitting in there were veterans. Everyone had stopped eating, drinking, and speaking. Their actions were disruptive and deeply disrespectful, especially during such an important national moment of remembrance. The manager on duty asked them to stop, but they continued regardless.nnOne of the same waitresses later brought food to our table, and when my 11-year-old son politely told her she should have shown more respect and waited for the silence to finish, she responded dismissively, saying, “I had to bring it out — the food would have been cold,” before shrugging and walking off.nnI was appalled by the lack of respect shown, not only for the occasion but also for the management’s request and for the customers who were observing the silence. I hope that appropriate action is taken to ensure staff understand the significance of Remembrance Day and the importance of maintaining respect during such moments in the future.
Daughter enjoys coming for breakfast quite alot but came for evening meal this time.nFood is good. Service was greatnPrefer using the app where possible.
a satisfying meal especially for the price. always a nice atmosphere and pint prices that can't be beaten. well done spoons!!!
Having been to many Wetherspoons around the UK, this local one is familiar to me, but I haven't had food here for some time.nI opted for a standard mixed grill, where the first impression was not too good. The meat content, lamb sausage, sirloin, and chicken, were all quite black and obviously scorched. As I had asked for rare steak and not cajun, it was a disappointing sight! The other meal we ordered, was a medium rare 8oz sirloin, again, clearly cooked under a very high flame see pic as it too was black all over the outside, more rare inside than med rare, which suggests the cook has little knowledge of best ways to cook steak.nAnother clue regarding the ability to cook steak, was the waitress, when challenged regarding the overcooked fare, stating that the cook had said that, because the steaks are so small 6oz they can't be cooked rare. I've never heard such nonsense!nThe 8oz steak was warm, not hot, but pretty black on the outside, as if put on a very high heat for 3 or four minutes.nI did get a replacement meal, after refusing to accept the cooks excuse regarding portion sizes. The appearance of the food was definitely improved however, it was not particularly enjoyable to eat. The lamb sausages seemed to be very similar to value pork sausages, the steak was thin and dry as was the pork. The chips looked unappetising but, were quite nice, as was the mushroom. The 1/2 tomato was warm, had signs of being placed on a hot surface, but could not be described as 'cooked'!nIn the end I had to 'throw in the towel' and leave around 40% of my meal, as it was not entirely inedible, but I couldn't say I enjoyed much of it.nI really dislike giving such negative reviews as this, but the standard of food preparation did leave a lot to be desired, however the service was very polite and efficient, even if the waitress made an attempt to excuse the performance of the kitchen. The beer was what I expected it to be, tasty and enjoyable, the rose was also perfectly fine.
