This was a second visit for my husband and I . This time we came with my brother and his wife as well. The food is very good and the price reasonable. We were disappointed that my sister in law could only have a small helping of ice cream as a dessert. We had notified The Lion that she required gluten free but there was no provision on the special lunch menu. and our message had been forgotten. My husband and I had the cottage pie which was delicious. but the other 2 had the gammon which was very tough with no steak knives provided. It was actually quite hard to catch a waiter or waitress as they were understandably busy in the bar and we were the only ones in the restaurant. This has not put us off, in fact we are coming again with 2 other folk next week. It just might be something to bear in mind. The venue is lovely and the staff pleasant. I hope that this is constructive rather than critical.
This is an amazing place to stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful. Truly a gorgeous place that I wish I had planned more time for. The staff was wonderful. Great people that eagerly helped with anything needed. What I planned as simply a stop along our trip turned out to be the most amazing hotel of our 21 day holiday.
My partner and I booked in for Sunday lunch with our 8 week old. I had notes on the booking we will be bring a pram and the staff were excellent, giving us a table where we could park the pram without getting in others way. I was very happy with my choice of a local ale to drink. Then to start we shared some of the tempura prawns which were excellent. Throughout our visit the staff were friendly and attentive. The pub itself is a lovely building really nicely decorated. The reason for my 3 star review, I’m afraid was all down to out main meals. My partner had the roast beef, the beef was tender, and tasty if a little more cooked than we would have liked it. My choice of the roast chicken was very disappointing. I received a single fry chicken breast. No dark meat, not skin or meat on the bone to keep any moisture in the meat. The vegetables were tasty. The roast potatoes maybe could have been slightly more cooked inside and crispier. But I’m afraid the sad little chicken breast would make it hard to come back when family come to visit us.
Met a friend here for lunch yesterday, food was very good, and service great. We were there at 12 and it was pretty quiet. Really nice seating area in the sunset story type part with lots of natural light. Recommended - thanks!
Amazing pub and service from lovely Natalia and Abby. Our car broke down and they let us sit inside and have drinks even the restaurant was full and fully booked and they were well busy. A bit later we were kindly served food as well, and luckily for me they had vegan options too pictured are the cauliflower wings. Nice chill atmosphere and music. Toilets and baby changing were fresh and clean. Easy for babies as prams fit in well.
I had a great time yesterday eating delicious food at your restaurant. Really Cozy Atmosphere, The staff was committed to great service. Neha is been fantastic was a truly outstanding server. I was amazed at her excellent service. The Fish Pie was the best. Highly recommended!
Very nice place for a well-priced meal. Good room. Attentive service. Would have been a full 5 star review had there not been a draft in the conservatory part of the restaurant Rooms: Clean, comfortable, good size, warm it was literally freezing outside
Booked this at the last minute because we couldn’t be bothered to drive back to London in the rain … what a lovely find! All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful; room was clean and appeared recently decorated; bed was super comfy and the power shower hot and fabulous … would definitely book again next time I visit Bicester which was just a 10 minute drive away. Highly recommended. If
Quaint building, several different areas for diners so no party can be too disruptive. Good choices on both the adults and the children's menus. Beautiful food when it arrived.
Very good menu and drinks selection. Overall desserts were definitely a winner. The beef burger we asked for well done but unfortunately was extremely dry. Overall would still be happy to return, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff.Hotel highlightsQuiet
