I had a pregnancy acupuncture booked and when I arrived was informed that the lady doing it hadn’t arrived. The lady on reception was very apologetic and genuinely felt awful and offered a discount on my next booking, she said Amy the therapist had said she wasn’t due to start until next Monday so there must have been a a system error allowing bookings too early, unfortunately they weren’t able to accommodate when I needed which was this week but it was fine. It’s one of those things... Strangely though the therapist called me directly to rebook and I advised the timings now don’t work but then I received a picture via WhatsApp of her calendar which appeared to have my booking in on the correct date, it was then deleted without a follow up, I thought that was a little unprofessional to WhatsApp me and then delete it without explanation after I’d seen the message, that made me not want to rebook for anything else really.
“The yin yoga class at the Sadie Centre with Claire Winterbourne is so good. I have attended three so far, and every time, my fluidity of movement and joy in moving afterwards is wonderful. I find it is quiet and contemplative, encouraging trust in the slow yielding of the body in different positions to gravity. I am very grateful to Claire and the way she prepares to receive us for each meeting and guides us through our time together. It is an experience of exploration and appreciation of our body and its capacity for renewal in surprising, subtle ways. The next day I feel like a panther. I’m 73!“
I attended Jessie's workshop for the back, because a friend had spoken so highly of it, and I noticed almost immediately that the lower back discomfort that kicks in the moment I wake up is gone! The techniques and exercises are so simple but powerful and I would highly recommend this workshop, even if you don't have major body pains. I was beginning o accept a level of discomfort in my body, because I though that was part of exercising regularly but I listen to and communicate with my body using these valuable techniques and am now in a much more comfortable place,
Yoga with Julie Brunton: I believe Julie's work is of the utmost importance at this time. She works directly with Spirit, for the highest good of all. Julie radiates and inspires joy. She is generous with her time, wisdom and skills. She kindly and intuitively guides others on their journey of self-discovery/self-awareness. Seasonal yoga with Sarah: This class is exactly what you need, whether you're aware of it or not! it's so in tune with the subtleties of nature it gently guides us toward a deeper connection with our inner Self. Sarah is a knowledgeable teacher who knows how to combine yoga and Qi-Gong in ways that allow for a moment of realignment on the mat. 5Rhythms with Lucy: Lucy is welcoming and friendly, inviting all to join in and surrender to the beats of music. She creates a safe space where one has the chance to practice mindful movement and intuitive dancing for a whole hour and a half; the perfect way to let go of stress after a full week of work!
I loved this shoulder workshop. I use several of the techniques in day-to-day life to reduce and prevent knots. The workshop was friendly and supportive and the teacher was very enthusiastic about The Franklin Method. I felt more info should have been provided on what to bring with us and more detail about what to expect, location etc. I will be looking out for further workshops like this.
I have been attending Sherryl’s Pilates class on a Tuesday for the past 6 months. Prior to the classes I was consistently having issues with my back, shoulders, and neck. Trevor, the Osteopath at the Centre had recommended Pilates as a way of strengthening my core and helping to ease the pain. Since regularly attending Sherryl’s class I have very rarely suffered with the pain I was previously experiencing. Sherryl is a fantastic teacher, she pushes you, but ensures you only go as far as you are able to. Her explanations of the exercises are brilliant and easy to follow. I feel well taken care of and have Sherryl to thank for my strengthened core which can now support my back.
My half day 'Moving Mindfully' workshop felt more like a longer retreat. The welcome, the beauty of the centre, the gorgeous flapjacks during the break. I felt very lucky to work with Judy Hammond, an experienced, sensitive and dedicated teacher of Alexander Technique. I felt so much better for days afterwards. Well worth the journey from London.
I attended the Franklin Method back course and Jessie is an amazing teacher. Clearly explained how the back works and gave easy, adaptable movements to improve mobility. Two hours well spent, highly recommended.
Poor experience. Front desk is poor. From J at the front desk who doesn’t return calls and gives excuses of being too busy when you follow up with her. It's ironic that I was intending on coming for my relaxation and health and the experience before I've reached the front door is unhealthy from people working at a healthy living centre with counselling services and whom behave in this way. I wouldn't mind if there was ownership of the problem or caring to offer an apology. Website is poor. I tried to make a booking online but with the system wanting access to my calendar I decided to phone in. I was assured I'd receive a response but silence prevailed. The furniture in the centre is unhygienic. We couldn’t find a single chair that didn’t look like someone threw up on it. It felt uncomfortable knowing there is something disgusting on the chair that’s dried up but no clue what it is. The restaurant has delicious food and juices which helped. Then there was double booking for our room with no staff from the centre on hand to sort it out which was rather unfair on the event organiser.
Something about simply driving in to the centre makes me feel instantly peaceful and shed any stresses. I've attended a variety of different classes here and Lorraine Woods is a real stand out teacher. A beautiful setting, a wonderful class and a great bunch of fellow students. I can't reccomend highly enough!
