My daughter and I visited the venue for a spa day and was very impressed. The venue and grounds are beautiful and parking facilities were good. The spa receptionist was wonderful, welcoming and informative and the meal was exceptional. We particularly liked that it wasn't the typical buffet style service. We really liked the quiet room which was most conducive to relaxation, rest and napping. It is the best that we have experienced in any spa's previously attended as were the showers. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the spa and by every member of staff that we met. All were welcoming and very pleasant and the therapists were awesome especially Codie. Her massage was wonderful and her lovely amiable personality made us feel relaxed and very comfortable. It was good value for money and I would highly recommend this spa.
I LOVE this hotel spa. I came here in December for 1 night. The receptionist was very helpful and the spa was so relaxing. The bar staff were all very attentive and even recommended drinks that I may like when I couldn't decide what to order. Our carvery was cooked to perfection and so was breakfast. The hotel has plenty of parking and is located on beautiful grounds, the views are amazing. We went on a walk before checking out and there was so much to see. We are already planning our second stay here and will be trying the afternoon tea next time too. It is definitely worth every penny.
Last week I visited this hotel with a group of friends, we were all super excited to be meeting up and enjoying some quality time together, particularly when using the spa facilities. On arrival we were given room keys and reminded of our dinner time. At no point at anytime was there mention of the spa facilities being CLOSED! We found out by asking what time it closed. We expressed our disappointment and was told the operations manager would come and have a chat with us, at which point he arrived with a very muscular bodyguard, at first I didn't recognise him so much but whilst speaking to the manager and glancing over at him a few times, it was clear he wasn't smiling or at all friendly. After quering what discounts or compensation we would receive it was made clear that it was the choice of a bottle of prosecco or two bottles of wine. We opted for the prosecco but to be honest was not entirely happy with it because if we had known the facilities were our of use we could of rearranged for another suitable date. Due to poor communication this wasn't made an option. The receptionist was adamant that she had sent an email informing me of the change but I hadn't received any correspondence from the hotel since my last stay in 2016. A few days prior to attending the hotel I called the reception to let them know that I hadn't received any confirmation email as yet and asked for them to send one, unfortunately this was not sent, due to being busy I didn't get the chance to chase it up. The waiting staff were wonderful at dinner and breakfast and made us feel very welcome and looked after. The breakfast selection was great and the roasties on the evening were tasty but overall the standard of the carvery was below standard. I expected more from the selection and quality of the food. Noteworthy details: As I have previously worked within customer service in premium department stores I am well informed as to how the customer should be treated and I feel in regard to us receiving a more suitable compensation it could have been dealt with more compassion and strategy. Communication is key and even though I didn't receive the email, the information SHOULD have been relayed at the front desk at check in. The ladies and I will now be considering another hotel for our future vacations based on this experience which is ashame because it is such a BEAUTIFUL venue. It's spacious, luxurious, clean and inviting.
Lovely setting for a hotel. It looks to be a great venue for weddings. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Bar facilities are good and the food for our evening meal and breakfast was excellent. However, tables for two people are a little small. All staff we came across were welcoming and friendly. We would happily return here in future.
It was lovely and welcoming. The staff were very friendly. Our room was clean apart from behind the TV, shower door had a bit of mould on it, which I cleaned off myself. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. Shower was nice and powerful. The room was warm. The coffee in the room is cheap, could get something better. Hot chocolate, brownie cookies and 4 little chocolates are a nice touch. I would have loved to look around on the grounds but it was raining. But it's a lovely quiet location. The room service was great and the food was lovely. I would come back again.
Visited the venue for an afternoon tea spa experience on the 17/11/22 which my mum had booked for my birthday. The whole day was amazing from start to finish! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and the facilities were lovely and clean! Big thanks to Michelle and Ray who went out of their way to make the day extra special for me, I really appreciate it! Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon for my mum’s birthday!!
We recently had my father's wake here and also attended another wake in the same month. The service and food has definitely gone downhill in recent years. Still a lovely venue but needs to improve their service levels. Over the years we have had many family events at this hotel from my parents wedding in 1963, their golden wedding anniversary, my sister's silver wedding anniversary and my father's wake in September this year. The hotel has lost that personal touch they used to exude !
Surprised by a couple of recent reviews. I must say my stay was almost perfect from start to finish ,,, reception were helpful and polite , staff passing you always said hello and smiled ,, carvery I had Sunday night was great apart from the one issue with the coke been very weak ,due to the mix running out , which happens everywhere , so not an issue ,,, Food was hot and good ,, Breakfasts I had on my two morning were very good and good choice of different requirements ,, and the staff were really lovely and pleasant Room was a good size and good facilities ,, parts were a looking a little old , but hey , it’s an old place and is part of the nostalgia ,,, must say the shower was as great as mine ,, the large top part was lovely and the smaller was was pretty powerful The swimming pool does and did get busy ,, and on the website it states you may be allotted a time to swim or a wait ,, so was expecting that as the hotel was busy whilst I was staying , but I must of timed it right every time I went to the pool car park at the front gets busy , but there is a large one around the back with plenty of spaces ,, also which I wish I’d parked at when I arrived as my room was closer to that one , but all helps with the fitness All in all I was very happy with everything and will be back , but hopefully in better circumstance as I’d travelled for a friends funeral and decided to make a Little break out of it
Stayed the night after a function. Character hotel with good atmosphere. Single room was a good standard, with plenty of tea choices. Very powerful shower, clean room and fantastic breakfast, even had local honey. Staff seem very polite and efficient. Got a good rate on hotel's own web-site. Would be glad to come again.
Had a good stay overnight for a wedding 01.10.22 room was good, clean and breakfast was tasty. Use of the pool etc in the morning was good for the children. I actually stayed over the night before due to being in the bridal party, maid of honour.....The meal on the 30.09.22 was disappointing as the puddings had sold out or so we were told, so only had a choice of 1 hot pudding or slices of cake not the small cheesecakes, gateaux that were a choice to begin with, then after we were told they had no more....and we had chosen the hot pudding staff then brought out small cold puddings.... we were a little confused....this could have been explained better to us and we would have chosen the cold puddings, gateaux etc first and not waited to be then told there were none left....not the pudding we had hoped for. The breakfast that they bridal party had on the Saturday morning was late, I had to ring 3 times to reception to find out where the food was.....to then be told we should have pre ordered it the night before? Miscommunication but still nobody checked with us. When the food did arrive, not enough pastries either. Disappointing service on the day of the wedding, stress the bride and myself didn't need. I think its useful to know for future bookings especially weddings so that plans run smoothly for the bride etc do their special day. Also an earlier check in for bridal guests without an extra charge would have been helpful as it was a rush to get checked in after the ceremony before the evening part of the wedding started. I think if you are part of the bridal party and have stayed over the night before in the prep room then I think to be able to check into your own room before the wedding would have been so much easier than having to wait until 3pm like all the other guests, to much rushing about and finding bags etc..... use of the pool etc on the wedding day is a waste of the amenities so could be extended on the day after maybe, a later checkout with no extra charge?
