One of the best Wetherspoons I've been too. Huge pub with a massive beer garden, the grounds are kept to a high standard. Inside very clean, different rooms/areas of varying styles. There appears to be a problem with the toilets at the moment, Portaloos outside, hope this is soon resolved. Staff were attentive, the service was quick and friendly. As usual, great prices. And good sized portions of food.
Wow! An incredible hospitality venue owned by the JD Wetherspoons group. Beautifully and tastefully decorated, fast friendly service, helpful, professional and friendly staff. The food was delicious, good portion size, good presentation and good value for money. The Imperial must be the FLAGSHIP of the group? Definitely worth a visit.
Came for lunch here and was fascinated by the pub and its rich history. The Imperial ticks all the right boxes for families, couples and singles with great prices on food and drinks. I loved the large orangery which was light and airy and a great atmosphere, while other parts of the pub are perfect for large tables and a few smaller tables for those quiet little tete-a-tete meetings. We paid just over £30 for two starters, three mains and three drinks.
Wetherspoons is not on my regulars list but I must say this spoons has to be in the top 5 in the portfolio. The Orangery is something to behold; I have never seen anything like that before in a pub! It’s also absolutely bananas they’re selling drinks for £1.49!
Great looking Spoons. Make sure you go yo the very end with one wall completely made out of glass and iron. Lots of taps and some boced ciders. Best Spoons in Exeter possibly in the UK
Everything to what Wetherspoons do within their own pub chain & hospitality business is all that very busy to why that the Imperial in Exeter does a really good & quick job to provide whichever food & drinks they still do to copy from the menus in recently good times.
Great Beautiful inside this Wetherspoon the architecture of this place exceeds all expectations. The ground are just as pleasing to the eye also
Fairly typical Spoons in that you know what you are going to get and the prices are very reasonable. Good service, and perfectly able staff. Like many places bought by Spoons, the building it is in is fabulous and although like a barn in places, many original features have been left. The orangerie is particularly impressive. Lots of space inside, and outside of the weather is acceptable. Reasonably large outdoor covered area but most outdoor dining is not covered. Pretty close to the main station, didn't look particularly at the car park, but seemed adequate.
I mean it's a Weatherspoons so you know what you're going to get. They have a good range of beers on tap, nice atmosphere here and the service was prompt. My score would be higher if it wasn't for the pathetic attempt at an 'american style' burger. It's all dry bread, cold and the cheese isn't melted at all. The burger patty was leather. If you want a burger go to Hubbox instead. The beer there is also great.
Beautiful old, historic hotel now a Wetherspoon's pub offering their popular food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The Orangery in particular is a great place to enjoy it all, as we did. Descriptions and old drawings in each room give a sense of the history each area had, as well as of Exeter itself.
