The staff were very friendly. The pub was quaint & comfortable. Food was excellent & pretty quick to come as well. Very reasonably priced too. My husband said it was best sausage & mash he'd had!! Good sized portions as well.Food: 5/5
Response to Daniel Cadmen. I was sat at the bar when this person sought a table. At no point was he told to go elsewhere, he was advised on a couple of occasions that it may be a wait and the bar person was polite and professional. I am all in favour of constructive criticism when the service is poor. It was not on this occasion and it would be a lot more helpful if people's comments were accurate or at least honest?
We attended a memorial service here and everything was spot on. An area had been allocated and a buffet was supplied. The staff were very courteous and could not do enough for you taking good care of everybody. Would highly recommend it.Food: 5/5
We were taken by the positive reviews for this establishment so decided to go for a random Sunday dinner after visiting the nearby woods for a walk. Positives: Ample parking / friendly staff. Starter mushrooms and bread was lovely. Negatives: if you don't like veg the Sunday dinner probably isn't for you. It's very light on potatoes, meat is plentiful but a bit tough. Me and my partner ordered 2 meals but only one dish with some vegetables was supplied between us to share. If you look hard enough at the picture of my turkey dinner you can play spot the stuffing ball it's as small as the smallest potato. Cranberry sauce for your Sunday dinner sir? you need to ask for as it doesn't come on the plate despite being labelled as such on the menu. The place does get busy and unfortunately our drinks order was left behind a couple of times. We were seated by a noisy coffee machine which was very noisy and in near constant use. Sadly I am unlikely to return.
What a fantastic pub, 9 of us went here for a birthday lunch, the staff are very friendly and very helpful, the food was well priced and portion size very good, I had the burger which just melted in the mouth diserts were amazing. Overall I will definitely be going back it was one of the best meals we have ever had 10/10
Decided to go for lunch with my 3 year old, despite the place being half full with diners, was told there would be a long wait for food and should find somewhere else, when I said we were fine to wait, we were basically told to find somewhere else, not family friendly at all. The Black Horse around the corner in Baston was super friendly though, recommend you go there!
Went there for a wedding on 1st July 2023. I don't know what they pay their staff, but it's not enough. Definitely going there again.Food: 5/5
Just had a cracking meal here. Great food absolutely superb service and a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
A late decision to go there but we’ll worth it. Food was hot, service was excellent and quick, staff were soo polite and went out their way to help.
Went Back after 4/5 years after my last visit a member of staff was very rude. This time could not fault anything staff helpful food home cooked very tasty. Well worth the visit 5 star
