Roaming the area on vacation from California. Stormy skies and hungry bellies and a recommendation from our hosts at The Cow Shed accommodation sent us to the Six Bells at Witham on the Hill. It was lovely inside. The Proprietors James and his sister run a top quality place. Young and enthusiastic staff showed professionalism beyond their years. With an extensive drink menu and food beyond pub fare, they had plenty of guests even for a rainy Sunday evening. My wife ordered a fungi pizza on a gluten free base and I got the carni pizza. We could only eat half, so we have lunch for tomorrow! My wife needed some greens, so James had his cook whip up a green salad, while I, on the other hand needed something sweet, so I ordered the Chocolate Nemesis with salted caramel ice cream. We’ve been on the road now for 2 weeks, and this is the only restaurant review I’ve written. I’m sure they have plenty of local business, but I think it is worth a drive!
Went for Saturday lunch. It was amazing. The staff were very attentive, food was best in the area, menu interesting. good value. Coming back soon! The younger members of the team serving gave brilliant service and I'd like to compliment them. Really good. The chef produces great food like you probably wouldn't eat at home so it's an interesting experience. A jem of a place!
Just returned from here having had dinner there last night and an overnight stay there along with our friends. Rooms were beautifully clean with lovely bathrooms , comfortable beds with quality bedding, only criticism - no decaf coffee in the room. Dinner was excellent, quality ingredients all cooked perfectly and the service was outstanding. The menu is quite limited, but the food did not disappoint. Breakfast was equally as good with the most delicious sausages and bacon! Highly recommend and excellent value for money.
Food is amazing and not silly prices. Really great food, nicely presented and the staff are so friendly. One of my favourite places to eatRooms: 5/5
Limited parking on their car park later on. Meals excellent quality and served hot and with minimal delay. Good range of drinks.Service: 5/5
Lovely room with high quantity fittings, large shower room. Very comfortable bed. We're anxious about noise from the bar under our room, but needn't have worried it all went quiet at a very reasonable time. Excellent hosts, they have obviously spent time and thought making this a very comfortable pub/hotel. Can't think of any negatives.
Visited today for Lunch with friends, a beautiful little pub, but service was slow to take food order, waited 45 minutes. I was really looking forward all week to try the rotisserie chicken, which both my friend and I wanted to be told there was only 1 half a chicken left which my friend had and it was only 2pm and a Saturday!! Was very disappointed as been wanting to try the six bells for a long time, so this was a massive let down, so I settled for the steak and frites, which was cooked to perfection, so this did turn my mood around and the lemon tart was delicious. Just a shame the start of the meal did not start off as a pleasant experience.
Lovely meal at the Six Bells. Easy to make a reservation online and as a group of 10, we were in our own little room which was perfect as we had small children with us. All the food was delicious, including the rotisserie chicken, Woodfired pizza and beef cheek. There was also a kids menu. Would definitely recommend!Service: 5/5
I don't often eat out on a Sunday, and I generally tend to avoid roasts, but this one was excellent. On the table, we had both the beef and the lamb, and the lamb was spot on. The vegetables were too, and the service was excellent. If you are looking for a genuinely superb ve ue for a Sunday outing, this is the one on the outskirts of Stamford.
What a fantastic find. Excellent rooms, service, food, drinks and ambience. More than highly recommended. We'll be back!Rooms: 5/5
