Sunday lunch at The Horns is a very traditional plate, roast meats, roast vegetables with proper gravy with a Yorkshire pudding, nice selection of puddings for afters
Very nice pub. Good wines carefully served. They made soup and sandwiches for our funeral party, both are far better than the dreary fuel that British pubs usually churn out.
Attended a Wake here. Good food supplied, recommend the soup. Pleasant surroundings, large sitting area. Hope to be able to call again and probably have lunch. Don't feed the .
This is a nice enough pub, that’s massively let down by a rather uptight, surly and unhelpful manager. The kind of manager who tells you to wait when you’re trying to order food because she wants to clear dirty glasses from another empty table. Or the kind of manager who removes a salt shaker used to prop up a kid’s phone because of pure control freak-ishness all other tables were empty. Also our toddler became obsessed with the beer mats and wanted to take a couple home with him, but the manager refused to allow this to happen. Very strange to prioritise dirty, generic, cardboard beer mats over the simple request of paying customers’ children. These are all small details in themselves - but the kind of details that add up - equating to a wholly unpleasant experience.
Lovely Sunday roast today, served quickly - and hot! Will definitely visit again, thank you
It's a pub with a long history and particularly the beams and the mural are amazing. The stuff is very knowledgeable about the history of the building and we enjoyed talking to her. The drink and the food was lovely, too.
Reasonable prices and an enjoyable meal but unfortunately due to a 'busy weekend' there were some items that were unavailable. Maybe try later in the week when fully stocked?
Great food, and a lovely place, excellent service from the lady from Stevenage, who has worked there for 11 years. Thank you.
This place could be nice. The decor inside is lovely and it looks nice from the road. The girls serving at the bar were nice. The problem both my friend and I agreed on was that the food seemed to be frozen food..nothing tasted fresh at all. The other issue was the young girl who brought our food out - didn't seem to care much about how to do it nicely and didn't put the plates down carefully, so it felt like she just threw the plates down and went off. We were both a bit surprised at how she acted. The visit was a bit of a disappointment and we would not go back for the food...they should relaunch the menu with fresh ingredients and cook everything to order.. We'd come back for that.
Delicious food, great hospitality and a wide selection of beers. Would definitely visit again!
