I stayed here overnight for work whilst visiting nearby. The room was clean, spacious, with a super comfy bed and cooling air conditioning. I had both an evening meal and breakfast in the downstairs restaurant, which I couldn’t fault. Both meals were delicious. The service throughout my stay was superb and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay overnight, or to locals who want a good place to go for a drink and a meal. 10/10.
Fresh modern upgraded pub. Certainly a dramatic uplift to what it was before. Very welcoming. Bar area to one side and the restaurant to the other. Really lovely outside space for summer time or winter time if you're not bothered by the cold. Varied menu, not hugely expensive but not cheap either, the food is presented and prepared well. I enjoyed a classic burger which was very filling.
We booked our company Christmas evening meal at The Chequers Inn, Knebworth on a good recommendation. We weren’t disappointed. Great food, excellent atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff. All in all a great evening. Many thanks to all concerned.
Very nice food, we knew it was a new pub and happy we tried!
Lovely atmosphere wasn't too busy.. Food is good.. I mean my pie had a hard lid. But other then that was lovely.. The banoffee pie deffo hit the spot.. didn't want it to end.. If your in the area check it out
We went as a family with friends to listen to the music being played on Friday evening. We had a lovely evening. Pub clean, bright and welcoming. Staff helpful after an incident by a group of people who can't manage their alcohol and needed to be removed.
I booked the private dining room for my husbands birthday at the weekend and everyone has messaged me to say what a wonderful night it was. The room was great, staff attentive, food was delicious. Atmosphere spot on. Would definitely recommend and do this again for another event
A welcoming pub with both restaurant and bar service. Food is very good, chips are brilliant, but slightly above average prices I would say. Nicely decorated and friendly staff. Will visit again.
I just wanted to say how impressed we were today with the service we received. The receipt says we were served by David. We travel up from Kent once a month to take our Grandad out for lunch and always book in at chequers as it’s round the corner from his care home. We’ve always been impressed by the food and atmosphere but today the level of service was amazing!
I stayed on the 31st of March. I was very impressed with the hotel itself. The room was immaculate as was the rest of the hotel. The staff couldn’t do enough for you than Dave and Phoebe, but I had three concerns 1 miles I miss placed my room key And a lady on reception open my door for me but said it would have to stay open. I couldn’t understand that she had opened it so why couldn’t she lock it also I got up at 7:30 to come down for breakfast and couldn’t get through the fire escape door, nor the door down to the public rooms , you needed the key to touch an electronic opening device. God knows what would’ve happened. Had to be in a fire. The next thing was I hardly got of wink of sleep because the kitchen forgot to turn off the extractor which was just under my window, and that went on all night. Last but not least I my daughter and grandson had lunch in the hotel and Phoebe gave me a voucher for the next meal that we had in there. It couldn’t be spent on the lunch, but when I put this to Dan and David, they said no, it had to be the next day, it didn’t say on the voucher the next day it said on the next meal I feel that is very disappointing Bill Buxton
