As a parent of a child currently at hayesbrook School he's been there five years - my first comment is that bullying is a fact of life. Staff do very little to assist victims of bullying and the 'system' is geared such that they cover their own backsides and protect the school image at all cost - rather than focusing on the wellbeing of their pupils. Classrooms are invariably disorderly - even during lessons. Teachers are unwilling or unable to maintain the quiet and controlled environment that would be conducive to learning and pupils are underachieving as a result. I would not recommend you send your son to the Hayesbrook School - if you have any other option - take it.
I don't think its fair to say all the kids are chavy and loutish. Its more a case of a bad few spoiling the school for the ones that do want to behave and are trying to learn. Unfortunately the school leadership don't seem to care. We moved our son and he is much happier at Knoll.
The shcools biggest problem is the culture of chavy and loutish behaviour which seems to be accepted as the norm. Makes learning in some lessons difficult even though the teachers try hard. The head teacher more worried about painting over the cracks and trying to convince everyone how great the school is rather than actually doing anything to really make it better.
Hayesbrook's 3 Outstanding Ofsted inspections in succession followed by Good in the latest framework with Outstanding for behaviour is not easy to achieve and is recognition of the consistent hard work the school does to encourage the boys to succeed. Our son has just left Hayesbrook having been there since Year 7. Like all the others, he didn't pass the 11+, but Hayesbrook gave him the confidence and skills to study and get a place at a good university. In our experience, the school takes time to look after each individual boy's needs and works hard to achieve the best possible outcomes for all the students.
Staff at Hayesbrook in my experience are passionate and focussed solely on providing the best education they can for the students in their care. Two things to point out - firstly there are NO core subjects at A-Level - subjects run based on numbers, secondly a significant number of schools are having to cut subjects at A-Level due to the funding received from government falling, falling, falling. If you want to complain to anyone, write to your member of Parliament.
If you care for your childs future do not send your son to this school. My son was told to get used to leisure time as all he had to look forward to was being long term unemployed. He says he tried to learn but this did not seem to fit in with the schools culture.
My little baby boy Ryan is being bullied at this school, I would not recommend this school to any parents who love their little bobo. although Ryan did learn how to fight and be a hard nut and he says to me, "I can take you all on" and "I'm Ryan fight me." The pupils in this school are all chavs and elegant boys. They boys in this school will enlgnatly punch you if they don't like you.
basically, its a school for chavs and rejects. they don't do anything to support the victims of bullying and they are damn stupid although they are a million times better than knole academy......... who are complete fails at giving children an education.
Ive been here a year and a bit, and this school is AMAZING! It has a great environment and i recommend that any parent consider this school for their son. peace :
P.E teachers Mr. Liam Upton and the late Mr. Adams get an honorable mention, good teachers.
