Lovely bar. Nice staff. Large garden area. Awesome food. In a great location - we did a wonderful walk around the town and a long way beside the beautiful canal. The only downside was we had room 103. This should clearly have a single bed in it - the room is way too tiny to have a double bed in it. Hopefully they will take note of this comment. I would definitely go back, but would have to stipulate not room 103!!
The Hatchet Inn is located Market Place in Newbury. I’ve had a beer in a couple pubs near to The Hatchet before but never been in. In Newbury today I thought hmm I fancy a pint I’ll give it a go. Why have I not been in here before.. When you enter what strikes me is how large this pub is inside. It’s big. It’s also … cosy and welcoming. All the usual drink suspects and guest ales! Fireside was on tap today and I recommend that. And it’s a Wetherspoon so prices are very competitive read ‘not overpriced and reasonable’. A few fruit machines scattered about if that’s your thing. Decor good. Staff friendly and attentive. This will now be my go to in Newbury. Recommended.
A fabulous Wetherspoons in a great location. Staff very friendly, very clean and tidy all round. This is an old building so stairs and parts of the upstairs sometimes feels crooked no it wasn't the alcohol. This Wetherspoons is also a hotel.. We have previously stayed and must say a brilliant location to visit the market town of Newbury and beautiful canal. Enjoyed a lovely Korma, it was a Thursday and who can say no to a 'Curry Club'. Overall... thoroughly recommend
The senior management team have done a splendid job with this one Good size frontage terrace and a larger rear one. Clean inside with plenty of opportunities for privacy. I had a Ghost Ship low alcohol due to driving. I can imagine that this one thrives on most Saturdays especially when the racing is on
The place looks pretty fancy, but it's actually just a regular pub. It's very well known in the town and almost always crowded but huge enough to fit the people. Honestly I had the best drink in my life there. The options of drinks are endless, the food is good enough, toilets are clean and the place is pretty safe since the security works there. I can recommend it from all my heart.
Lovely town centre pub with lot's of seating inside and outside. Good menu and drinks selection. Well priced and welcoming.
I went to the Hatchet Inn for the breakfast and coffee. The Breakfast was good, sometimes it is not hot enough. The plates need to be hotter to keep the food warmer. The coffee is good and you can have as much as you want. Other hot drinks are available from machines. Very Good Value for money. BBC News Channel on TV with subtitles, No Sound.
Another fine weatherspoons. Formerly the old coaching inn sympathetically modernised with an enlarged garden. The usual value for money, in this case an excellent mixed grill.
Went for brunch and chose the All Day Breakfast. Good size, well cooked and quickly served. I opted for the normal size, but there is an option to go bigger. You also have the option to have either a soft or alcoholic drink with your food. Plenty of seating area to choose from with comfortable seats and clean tables, I could have easily stayed for longer and watched the day sail by!! Clean toilet facilities too. My only problem was the temperature was too cold if you sat too near the open back door or if you happen to sit on a table directly under the air conditioning unit. As with all JD Wetherspoons it was very reasonably priced and I would recommend this place for some good food washed down with a nice pint....or two!!
There were no eggs which was understandable because of the delivery issues but I walked in through the back door where there was no notice to tell me so. I was also eating my mushroom and bit on this bit of plastic which put me off my meal. Not good
