Welcome to The Elephant at the Market.

We’ve found ourselves a beautiful home here on the Market Place and we’re proud to be serving delicious food straight from the kitchen and crafted drinks poured at the bar every day of the week. Wood fired pizzas, Josper cooked steaks, classic cocktails, fine wine and world beers - that’s what we’re all about!

Plus we’re the perfect place for a mid-week pit stop or a weekend getaway with 14 beautiful bedrooms, stylishly designed for maximum comfort.

I Use The Elephant at the Market for an after work drinks meeting with a colleague on a Friday at around 530-630pm. Staff were friendly and the bar offered a decent amount and range of draft beers, with bottled beers and cider also available. The toilet facilities were clean and there were ample tables available up until about 6pm when the place started to fill up, I'd suggest coming early to get a table. I would suggest the Elephant at The Market as one of the better choices in Newbury.

Booked for 2 nights for my son and I to visit my other son who lives in Newbury. Booked with breakfast included which I only realised after reading a review this was only continental. Disappointed I complained so was told they would meet me half way and give me 1 cooked breakfast. ( good of them)!! We arrived went to our room and we were so disappointed as the carpet hadn't been hovered, toothpaste in the sink, dirty toilet, cobwebs all over and a 2 empty cardboard boxes on the bedside table which were supposed to have earphones in. Spoke to Becky who is really nice and she offered to Hoover the room. Not happy as I feel it was well over priced

Rooms and bathroom in the twin room are significantly bigger than the Queen room for same or close to the same price. The bed was comfortable and service was OK most of the time. Breakfast selection was very minimal. Would recommend only for short stays.
