We had our wedding reception here last week and it was incredible! Caorlan was amazing and so helpful and made it all very easy to organise particularly as my previous venue had cancelled with 6 weeks notice! The food was delicious and ALL of the staff right down to the prep cooks were very helpful and friendly at every stage of the process and made everything run smoothly on the night. We will definitely be returning regularly now we know what a hidden gem the halfway house is!
The food was lovely, the staff were great, the venue was spotless and the entertainment was better than we expected. The Halfway deserves a REALLY SPECIAL MENTION for the fabulous gluten free selection. For once our collection of coeliacs and gluten intolerant didn't have to eat saw dust, and were able to enjoy real quality. Thank you for a great work Christmas party! 22of us
The Halfway had lost their way for a period of time. It was a pleasant surprise to be greeted by a refurbished decor. The staff were smartly dressed in black and very pleasant. The food was really good at a reasonable price. We were really pleased that we tried it again. Diane the manageress was very attentive to everyone’s needs. We would recommend everyone to try the updated Halfway House. Vegetarian options: Various choices. Kid-friendliness: Kids are made welcome. Parking: Outside the front and around the side. 50/100 spaces.
Really good food and friendly homely atmosphere and staff friendly too, reasonably priced too and just 5mins from the boulevard shopping center! Handy on the way home ! We booked in advance!Food: 5/5
Had the daily special starter or sweet and main course with drink £20, we had starters which where good and tasty, I had roast beef, and the other was gammon, the gammon was good, plenty of veg but turnips too hard, roast beef was extremely tough and cut very thin, again plenty of veg but turnip hard, gravy had a vinegar taste but was ok.
We were really disappointed with our experience here. We waited for over an hour to be served. My food was cold when it was served and had to be returned. My partners fish was dry. Although they replaced my dinner & the staff were apologetic, it was still disappointing. Maybe just caught them on a busy/bad day, but wouldn't wish to return any time soon. The restaurant was also cold and lots of diners ate with their coats on.
Great vegetarian food had a lovely veggie curry with rice & the chips are unreal plus a delicious pomadom never had food like it ,can't wait to go back Parking: Has a good car park
Food was nice beef a bit dry and not enough gravy. I understand it’s the weekend before valentines and it was busy but waiting 45 minutes between courses was a bit much
Great service and more importantly lovely tasty food with some really good deals and offers! Also great Sunday entertainment! Rea Campbell Hill is an amazing singer! Great idea for a chilled weekend.
Brie starter wasn't hot the whole way through- kinda disappointing! The blueberry mojito compote was amazing though! Ciabatta on the steak sandwich was more burnt than toasted- and my steak was a lot more "rare" than "medium-rare". Peppercorn sauce was lovely. Chips were really good. Staff didn't check in during the meal despite it not being that busy during lunch time. No one asked how the food was or checked in. Despite being away from the door it was cold and draughty and had to wear my coat throughout the meal. Desserts were top notch and very good. Won't be in a rush to return.
