A lovely roadside pub with a wonderful array of choice on the menu. Very reasonably priced food, choices range from off the grill to Asian infusion. I had the Pork Belly bites for starter which were gloriously delicious! And a Steak Sandwich with fries. Everything was cooked beautifully and our gang of 5 had a wide range of dishes and were all very happy with their meals.
We booked a table in advance, but arrived earlier than antispated. They were very welcoming and were able to seat us earlier. The pub/restaurant gives of a modern but perfect traditional British pub feel. We were sorted with drinks and food very quickly. They had kids menus with good options and the food was a very good portion too. I had the carvery and I can say it has definitely lived up to the expectations that were shared on here. The homemade cauliflower cheese was emotional, all the meats cooked to perfection. Nice fresh potatoes, a good range of nice fresh sauces too. Absolutely amazing. The desserts were also absolutely fantastic. Toilets are lovely and clean also. Will happily come back
Lovely pub atmosphere and decor, pie and mash was good but would've been better with seasonal veg personal preference steak not so good was very chewy and full of gristle. Puddings were great especially cookie dough and ice cream. Service was great to start, but did feel like we'd been forgotten after our desserts were given to us.Food: 3/5
A quick stop on way back to camp, they couldn't accommodate us but had a table for us with an hour's wait, we were happy to wait. The wait is definitely worth it!!!!! The roast is out of this world! Cauliflower cheese is so much better than any carvery I've been to!!! We were well served and all with smiles even though I could tell they were a bit stressed serving multiple people but still had a smile on their face! Paid a visit to the ladies and they had a lovely touch to the women's needs - a basket with sanitary products and baby wipes for those who get caught out I know I have done in the past! Free WiFi which is a bonus to my Husband's delight so he can check the football hahaha. Couldn't finish my dinner and asked to take the chicken left overs home and they wrapped it like a bag - loved the cute touch to it. I'll definitely come back on our next visit to Cornwall. Many many thanks for hosting us. Parking: Loads of room and ample spaces for quite a few cars, some were shaded perfect for the summer sun disabled spaces available what I can see. Wheelchair accessibility: All on one level and can see its perfect for the wheelchair users.
What a warm and friendly place this is. Service was exceptional. I arrived at the end of service, enquired if they were still serving, they had begun closing down but took my order and served my food. BLT with chips scrumptious. The atmosphere was relaxed with soft Christmas music playing in the background. They were holding a Christmas event for a large group of ladies, all of whom seemed to enjoy themselves.
Just had a delicious meal at the half way house! Great selection of food, lovely friendly staff and great value...plus dog friendly! Definitely recommendFood: 5/5
Lovely little gem of a place in Penryn, Cornwall! I've been coming to Cornwall for a few years now and when choosing our meal for the last night, we knew we wanted it to be fresh, local, homemade food. When we came across The Halfway House and looked at the menu, we knew we'd be in for a treat! The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious! Great job team! Highly recommended!
Amazing food and friendly service. Very very nice atmosphere and very well decorated!Food: 5/5
Ten of us booked to celebrate my Son’s and my birthdays. The service was excellent and the food was out of this world. I loved the friendly atmosphere from staff and customers, with the added pleasure of dogs being allowed in the bar. I recommend completely for everyone, both like us who live locally and those who are travelling from further afield. Many, many thanks to all of you for a fantastic eating/drinking house! Wheelchair accessibility: Very good access and level within.
Good choice of food on the menu. The venison and bacon pie was tasty and my wife enjoyed her southern fried chicken burger. I recommend the onion rings as an extra. The Merlot was a nice one and the pinot grigot was crisp. Super background music, not too loud so we could chat. As with most pubs around here dogs were allowed. I thought the prices were very reasonable.
