Great food in a pub with a lovely atmosphere. Had the best octopus and cracklin I've ever had! Service was very friendly and I had some brilliant wine too. I did however find the seats a bit uncomfortable and it was quite pricey overall. However prices for wine I thought wasn't too bad. Definitely a great place for special occasions.Food: 5/5
Impromptu lunch in a welcoming open fire lite cosy country pub. A warm welcome from the Staff and a delicious tempting new seasonal menu. The food was exceptional, certainly a very talented chef in the kitchen. We had the stuffed plaice and roast turkey where every detail and component on the plate was executed to perfection. What a delightful wet autumnal Thursday.
Good food and friendly staff. We were seated in a quiet area. There were no other diners until shortly before we left, which was a shame. The bar area however was buzzing. Enjoyed the meal.Food: 4/5
Visited yesterday with parents. Nice country pub with very friendly staff. We were seated in the bar area due to having a dog which was fine. We decided to eat, selection of mains and starters. The majority of good was good but two were disappointing, unfortunately the fried chicken and Sriracha sauce was beyond fried and burnt both in taste and visually black, the pork and sage burger sounded great on the menu but was surprisingly bland and all flavours overpowered by sage. Food took just under an hour to arrive.... The men's loos had a selection of hand soaps but two were empty and third wouldn't pump, we raised with staff and unresolved whilst visit. Womens loos hand soap had been watered down, not really the way forward given target audience. We were there for 3 hours and it was noticeably cold, would have benefited from fire being lit. All in all a nice venue but some improvement needed with regular senior monitoring.
Very Relaxed atmosphere with Great Food and friendly but attentive service - cant wait to go back again - I am sure the area needs to be explored but a wet November Sunday was not the time. Parking: Easy Peasy Lemon....... Wheelchair accessibility: Easy Peasy Lemon.....
Good food and service but the atmosphere felt odd. Not quite a pub, not quite a restaurant - compared to other similarly priced options in the area, it just misses the mark.Food: 5/5
Amazing table for 2 by an open fire. The food and service was exemplarary as was the drink selection. Our first vist. Not our last.Food: 5/5
I've lived in kirdford for over 10 years and the Half Moon has gone from a "locals pub" to high end gastro pub... So, if you want high end food at the "in place to be" because Jodie Kidd's name is associated with it then give it a go.... If you want a couple of pints around a fire place with friendly banter and chat with locals then I'd choose somewhere else....
Had lovely lunch at Half Moon yesterday to celebrate our wedding anniversary - having traveled an hour to get there. Was worth the journey! Message to Jodie Kidd the owner - from one Masterchef to another i got to quarter final in 2007, what a great place you have, the food was amazing especially the roasties, congratulations - Jaye Wakelin
Doesn't deserve anything other than 5 stars - The best Sunday Roast I've ever had! We've been lucky to go on several occasions, the food is always amazing & the staff are super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
