We are a family GP Practice located in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire

Story

The doctors and staff are pleased to welcome you to the Greenway Medical practice in Cleckheaton. We are located on the first floor of the purpose-built Health Centre, opposite the bus station.

Our team consists of 4 GPs, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Practice Nurses, 3 Health Care Assistants and a range of reception and administrative staff. We are also a training practice, so will often have a GP-in-training working with us.

We take pride in offering a high quality service that is friendly, prompt and comprehensive.

After moving from Cleckheaton Group Practice I have been so impressed with the care at Greenway. Everyone I have spoken to has been patient, they have listened and they have helped. It's a complete breath of fresh air compared with Group Practice. I have deducted a star for the wait times on the phone, 30 minutes the other day at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. It's very hard when you have a job to be on hold that long when you should be working.
Not too long a wait time on the phone, 7 minutes. Could not get an appointment for 8 days but that's below the national average. So I will have to wait patiently in agony until then. The receptionist was polite and professional.
Moved from Drighlington to Gomersal and had to move practices. Have been very impressed with the service and care received by the doctors, much better than my previous practice. The reception staff have been very polite and pragmatic too, very pleased.
Once I got through, the receptionist was very helpful, she got me a physical appointment within the hour, the doctor saw me at 9am and rang me back at 7.30pm with the results of our discussion. Thank You
What a fantastic practice the drs have been brilliant with my father in law. He's blind and needs help they couldn't do enough for him. The only problem is the queuing on the phones. I know people have queries but they need more staff answering the phones. I've been 19 in the queue. At times it's a joke especially when your using your mobile.
It is a shame to have had to leave this practice as the actual doctors are fantastic especially Dr. Cameron but unfortunately the procedures to try and get an appointment are ridiculous you have about 15 minutes first thing in the morning to try get an appointment which is of no help to people who need to book time off work to attend their appointment. Also, the receptionists confuse themselves for triage nurses and are nowhere near as careful with your personal data as you would expect from any service especially a medical service that has the most sensitive of personal information. The priority seems to be what is easiest for the non-medical staff rather than the needs of the patients.
I have recently moved into the area and registered myself and my 2 children at Greenway. I was anxious about joining a new surgery as I had been a patient at my previous GP surgery for many years. The registration process was easy and well organised. The staff that I have seen on reception are extremely polite, professional and helpful. I had a query that was directed to the Practice Manager who answered promptly. I have already had to get advice from a GP when my daughter was unwell and Dr Cameron was fantastic. He listened, understood my concerns and was thorough in his response. My anxiety about joining a new surgery has already been alleviated due to excellent first impressions and extremely efficient service so far from Greenway. I feel that far too many people are quick to criticise but often don’t reciprocate when praise is warranted. We should be proud of our NHS and Greenway clearly take pride in their work and in my opinion give an excellent standard of care.
I have been with this practice for 8 years. In that time I have had various ailments diagnosed, but was never offered treatment. I never met my "regular" doctor, and only spoke to them once on the phone. I have no doctor/patient relationship and never felt comfortable discussing personal issues with the unfamiliar and bewildered voice of the médecin du jour, as they scramble to decipher badly typed, red herring strewn notes. On the odd occasion I felt that my immune system was not up to the repair, I have had more success at Dewsbury A&E. There was the odd battle with the Royal College of Grumpy Receptionists as they defend the NHS from the other 7999 equally entitled registered patients all competing for the golden ticket of next week or month's appointment. You can't blame the morning receptionists for being grumpy as they are in an impossible position. There are very few clinic hours available and the experienced patient knows that stroppy gets attention. So I decided to take the generous £12.97 monthly fee the NHS deems fit to pay you for my care to pastures new. I'm not expecting the new surgery to be any better.
Trawling through some of the negative reviews posted, I wonder if we're talking about the same place. During the 13 years I have been a patient at the Greenway Practice I have had unfailingly good service from staff at all levels and have had no difficulty in booking appointments. Don't be discouraged, folks. you're doing a great job!
As with most of the NHS they are pretty poor. What should have been dealt with in two appointments. One with a GP and a second with a nurse. Took One GP appointment, a follow up call by the GP and two nurses appointments. Each time I had to follow up and lead. First appointment GP missed the basics ie blood pressure checked and not asking for all tests to be done by the nurse. On seeing the nurse I had to follow up to find out the results. Also to be told that there were no notes as to what to do next. Even though the GP had said regardless of the results a follow up would be required. Had to book a phone appointment with GP. So following this I read up on what the NHS should be testing for. In order to prompt the GP to do the basics. Second nurses appointment and yet again I had to follow up to find out the results. Total time this could have taken one to two weeks. Actual time taken 23rd of April until 30th of June. Only advise I can give, is read up on what they should be doing and insist it’s done. That and be proactive in chasing them up. Just think of the time and money they could save. If they did their job right, first time!
