Story

Emma started The Great Escape - a Truro beauty salon - in 2008 when she was 21. She’s no great fan of staying in one place, so-so salons, grey-beige products or life minus adventure, so The Great Escape reflects her love of colour, movement, the big wide world and mixing things up.
The Great Escape’s products are constantly moving and improving. For now, The Crackling Candle Collection features wooden wicks which crackle, and subtle scents which evoke Paris, Honolulu, Jaipur and the Mississippi. The cuticle oil blends jojoba, flaxseed and rice bran oil, with added vitamin E and a sweet, vanilla scent.
As this choice grows, so will the range of salon treatments. And the salon’s the other area where Emma’s always made clear her dissatisfaction with Business As Usual. She makes a point, for example, of offering extended appointment times, so her customers can be sure they’ll never have that rushed, one-in, one-out experience which used to put her off salons before she opened her own. You can feel special and looked-after, or you can feel like you’re on a conveyor belt, says Emma; you just can’t feel both at the same time.
That’s one of the things which sets her apart. Another is the fact that everything that goes into what The Great Escape makes is there for reasons Emma can explain, from sources she can trace. She’s always on the go, trying something new, travelling, blending, experimenting and perfecting: bringing the world to your senses.
