Good place for holding an event. Attended a charity event in aid of St. Gemma’s hospice in Chapel Allerton hosted by Michael Lewin Solicitors. Confusing car parking directions, hire room the gym a little chilly. However, good space for events.
Very fond memories of this school - the quality teaching staff, rigorous curriculum and great friendship network set me up for life. My experiences of the school in the 90s and 00s was one mostly of inclusivity by the teachers to myself as an Asian student and others in my network from varied backgrounds, despite wider Leeds society not being anywhere near there at that time
We considered GSAL for our child after feeling let down by our local schools so went to the open day and was very impressed by the pupils and the staff. Our child loved it and that was it. We have been so impressed by their approach to education - not just academically but socially and culturally. Academically, children are challenged and extended to learn more deeply and think differently and teachers support and encourage this. Socially, there is a broad mix of backgrounds and as diverse as you could imagine. Culturally, pupils stand out for a number of reasons; they are polite, they are helpful and they want to learn. Having been in some state schools, that makes the school pretty special, if not unique. Respect for teachers, and each other is part of the fabric, which again these days, can be rare. And unlike some independent schools, entry is based on academic ability, not income. This means standards are kept high, which extends to their bursary scheme which is aimed at giving bright children from ordinary backgrounds the chance to be part of the school. I was at the Parent's evening recently and was struck by the level of insight I received from the teachers; it wasn't casual but constructive, thoughtful and encouraging. It reinforced the pastoral support the school gives, which considerate, caring and freely given when your child needs it, and it's those values which make a difference.
Lovely facilities but that’s all... The school does not care about the children and children are grouped in a very discriminating way. They only care about money and the current Principal is the most arrogant person with no care in the world about the children. Smaller schools care better. The school ends up in court against most parent chasing up term notice in lieu. Ridiculous, would I have known that they would not treat my children well 6 months ago??? Finished the term paid for as always paying for the full term in advance for our 2 children. Then they want another full term fees even tho we have shared intention to terminate couple months ago. If leaving end of July, they are asking notice to be given by the 5 of January. That’s 6 months in advance. The quality of teaching is outstanding for some teachers but for some, teaching is extremely poor and they don’t care if you ask to switch class as they just want their money. I won’t recommend as some public schools are far better. Waiting for court hearing
Good facilities, good food, and some good teachers, but the school does not care about the children, and is very impatient and inconsiderate. There are also a lot of snobby students who discriminate other students.
Extremely well presented school with every facility you could possibly imagine with the most high tech of security looking after the beautifully kept grounds of the school
A pay to go school, not by any means a "grammar" school So if you think paying ££££ to have your children educated really gives them a better education then your daft and deserve to waste your money here
Much better than the school where I was educated.
I go to this school and it’s good
Acquired my degree no thanks to this school
