Appalling school. They have kicked my brother out of this school because he didn't meet the grades after 1 year but failed to inform his parents that he wasn't doing well along the way or offered him any extra support. He worked very hard for his exams while juggling serious health problems. They informed his parents a day before they kicked him out. They are more concerned with the school's superficial reputation than the true future and success of their students. Would not recommend this school to my worst enemy.
My daughter goes this school and she loves it very welcoming and outstanding on everything
Absolutely disgusting school I wish I never went there and I heard two teachers had it on which is absolutely horrible
Very disappointed with Roundhay High School and I wouldn't recommend it. I had such hopes due to the failure of a primary school only to find failure in another and it came highly recommended. Meeting after meeting with countless failures to keep safe my child. Pastoral Team are in need of retraining. Safe Guarding is horrendous along with any sort of help for Mental Health of students. Safe Guard Lead take your time for granted pulling you aside without no arrangement in place. There are a few teachers who care but not much. I pride myself on strong leadership and this is lacking from the head. As a Parent I have feel unsupported staff are not bothered. Rude Staff member in the Office. As an Educational Platform Provider which can provide schools with funding I have seen all that I need to see.
Student here, really great school with nice grounds. Good teachers and lots of extra support for students
An outstanding school that both my children attend. It is extremely well run, and my children feel safe and cared for within the school. Teaching is good with most teachers both dedicated and hard working, devoting their time to help pupils of all abilities do their absolute best. The pastoral support team is outstanding! They are warm, caring and proactive in dealing with any issues quickly and the ability to communicate exceptionally well. An excellent secondary school, very worthy of its OFSTED outstanding rating
Horrible school. Where gangs are a good thing, bullying is normal behavior. If you want your child to suffer from anxiety and depression or become a member of a gang then send them there.
Will not be sending my daughter to this school, from visiting I could see that they had an image to protect that was more important to them than the pupils learning.
After reading numerous reviews surrounding the same topic, I thought it only right I shared my own experience seen as it seems nothing has changed in 20yrs!.... I attended Roundhay School 20-25yrs ago and I was 100% let down by the Education system at the school. I was alway chatty and happy at school, but I was personally penalised for having a bubbley personality, and even though I was very good at Maths, I was forced to be placed into a lower grade class meaning that at the time I could not sit the higher lever GCSE maths paper, which I was more than capable of, which resulted in me having to retake in adult life I got a Grade A may I just add, which if I'd of been allowed to sit the higher test paper, I would have contributed to the successful Grades of the school. I was singled out on a number of occasions while at school from the Education staff, and it really knocked my confidence.. I can see now that I was never 'Disruptive' as I was always told by staff, especially my Head of Year... But just happy to be surrounded by my peers, who by the way often instigated conversations in class lol... But I was always the one who seemed to get in trouble!.. Looking back, I really feel I was let down by Roundhay School and its a shame to see others are having the same experiences 20yrs later. I definitely agree the school has always been more focused on protecting their image, than the students!... And as a Mother now, and soon to be choosing a Secondary School for my Son, Roundhay School would be the LAST school I'd want him to attend.. I want my son to go to a school where I would feel confident in nurturing his bubbley, happy, confident personality, whereas unfortunately I feel Roundhay would just try to shrink him into some sort of shell and make him lose all confidence in himself, just as they did with myself in the past.
Unless you’re top of the year or winning them awards, they don’t care about their students. Kids slip through the net and aren’t cared for bc they aren’t considered an “assets” to the school. No care for disabled students, whether mentally or physically, and kids with “behavioural problems” are thrown in isolation without thought to the damage being caused. A few teachers actually put in the effort with the “bad kids” but generally they fail the students who need the most attention and care
