A good selecting of german food esp. the fresh rolls Brötchen/fresh pretzel Bretzel and all the little things you miss after a certain time, definitely worth a visit, a brief suggestion for the owner a small wish, maybe you could increase your beer stock with a beer from Cologne Kölsch, Früh/Gaffel/Reissdorf etc., just to complete your beer stock
On 27 November 2019 I ordered through Amazon 2 x German Hela Delicate Spicy Curry Ketchup - 800 ml, which I love from my time in Germany. They arrived promptly but one bottle had been opened, so I obtained approval for return and sent both bottles back the day after I received them, using the label provided. To date 22 Jan I have not received my refund. I later sent them an email saying I still want the product, so a simple replacement would be fine instead of a refund. No refund, no replacement - they have totally ignored me and I am not impressed.
I order German items which I miss at Christmas time and cannot find at local shops.. This year after ordering, when my parcel arrived I found that two packets of thin German biscuits Spekulatius hadn't been well packed and were mostly broken. After I sent an email to the shop expressing my disappointment, they replied explaining they would be replaced free of charge, with no excuses. I was sent two new packets of beautifully packed replacement biscuits completely whole and unbroken for me and my family to enjoy. Very good customer service which I really appreciated. Thank you very much indeed.
Delicious authentic German food and drink. Very fast delivery even in the week before Christmas. Thank you German Bakery for making my son so happy! He has just returned from a trip to Munich and now says Bavarian food is his favourite so I was happy to find an online shop. I thought it worth a try and wow it was fantastic. Even my younger son, who is harder to please with food, loved it. We hope to make it to Windsor to visit the shop one day. Vielen dank
Terrible experience. Ordered a selection of items as a gift hamper for friends. It was sent to me, as the online order confused billing address with delivery. The FOOD parcel in a battered cardboard box, not a hamper was taken to the post office depot! Meat. Sitting in the post office. Thankfully I managed to pick it up the next day. Most of it was still edible. Only got dismissive abusive responses when I emailed. Not saying the produce was bad. It just isn't meant to sit in a sweltering place for over 24hrs before you get it! Products 7/10. Service, staff communications, delivery, online ordering, website control, customer service, complaints handling, and overall stress and poor experience = 0/10!
Not a German in sight. Really interesting range of German products but the pretzels we bought must have been days old. I asked when they were baked and was told today. Definitely not so. I hope the Stollen cake and rye loaf we bought are fresher than this. The rye loaf is, lovely so probably just unlucky with the pretzels.
I ordered online in November for Christmas and received Mozart Kugeln that had gone off and had a white film around the chocolates seifige Schokolade. They have agreed to refund the chocolates, and I have received the refund. Please check the dates of your goods before sending them to customers. Thanks for the refund.
Sad to say our experience with the German Bakery was anything but pleasant. As I'm German, my wife very thoughtfully wanted to order some German food for Christmas. Little did she know that this almost led to us eating perished food from the German Bakery, being shouted at aggressively and hung up at when we raised this. To give a bit of background, we ordered fresh sausages and ham for online delivery, assuming of course that the food would be delivered in a safe and sanitary, i.e. refrigereated manner. Rather than in a refrigerated state, the meat arrived in a usual parcel with UK Mail. We later tracked the order, and noticed that it had been in transit for more than 24 hours. Rather than delivering the fresh meat in a refrigerated condition, it was simply wrapped in a plastic bag, together with a small cooling gel pack. Given that it had been in transit for more than 24 hours without refrigeration, it had naturally warmed, rendering the meat unsafe to eat. This is aggravated by the fact that the meat was not delivered directly to us, but actually dumped in the neighbour's garden without having it signed for by the neighbour. Before we discovered the parcel by chance, it had been laying in the garden un-refrigerated, naturally for another four hours. When we raised a complaint with the German Bakery, we were right away told that this was usual practice, and that the temperature was maintained through the cooling pack which of course was warm by the time it arrived, and that the temperature of the mean was always lower than 12 to 14 degrees Celsius ?. To our question how they could possibly claim that it was at a certain temperature given that it was shipped from depots, delivery vans, our neighbours garden etc., we were first told this was usual practice "and nobody ever complained". When we told them that according to the Foods Standards Authority, perishable food like fresh meat has to be refrigerated continuously below 8 degrees, the lady we spoke to got angry. She clearly experienced that before, as she quickly employed a tactic that I sadly have experienced in Germany before. She just yelled at me so loud I had to take the phone away from my ears, and would not stop. After I had asked her about ten times politely to let me finish my sentence, she just hung up on me. Surely, even if we and the Food Standards Authority had been wrong about our concerns, surely nobody deserves to be treated like this. So a fair warning to other potential customer: In this business it is clearly usual practice to deliver fresh meat in an un-refrigerated, unsafe and unsanitary condition. On top of that, raising a concern gets you dismissed, aggressively yelled at, and hung up. Sad to see this - a good German food business would certainly be great thing. Not the German Bakery though.
Absolutely Excellent! I ordered on Tuesday evening and received my order Thursday morning! Very well packed. Great service and a lovely note to me in the email that confirmed the dispatch of my order.
I was delighted to discover the shop so close to my home a few days ago. The bread is delicious and the brezels taste just like home:- I'll be back many times!Thank you for being there...
