I've been visiting the George and Dragon over the last 16 years. This was the first visit in quite a while. First impressions were from the website and that seemed to confirm my expectations with previous visits. However I found the place quite drab and shabby. Lacklustre if you will. The seats were ripped and in need of restoration. This is a shame because the pub is in a nice location and has always had a great reputation. A roll of fabric and a few nice lights is all it really requires. Onto the food: Again presentation was just a bit drab, but for the most part it is good. Though you have to ask for condiments. It's a bit weird. My friends enjoyed their food and were very complimentary of their roasts and steaks. I as always ordered the fish and chips. The chips are billed as home made but are clearly not and weren't particularly well cooked. The fish was well cooked but had been under the hot lights for quite a while and was warm rather than hot and fresh. Luckily it was a nice fresh bit of fish and the batter didn't suffer while waiting, but it wasn't piping hot or too cold to send back. If I was the owner I'd put £1 onto each main meal for a year and use the cash to give the joint a wee facelift. It would still be good value. Fix the seats and light the place a bit nicer. Replace the laminated paper menus. Just tweak the customer experience a wee bit.

Been going here for years, food is awesome the steaks are huge and tasty. Only down side is the price has gone up a lot over last two years. I can no longer go as much as I used to because of the price. Just payday T-bone steaks for me now.

Very quiet and in a nice neighborhood. Not a great food selection. Drinks were a little on the pricey side. Beer garden is lovely.
