Really friendly staff. Lovely vegetarian option - Wellington. Asked for chips instead of mash which was no problem. Great atmosphere. Fair pricing. Huge portions. 100% recommend and would go back when next here on holiday.
We stayed here on Friday for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was absolutely lovely! We'd got room 5, which overlooks the market place where you can park when you stay. The chap who greeted us and showed us the room was lovely, very friendly. The room was lovely, clean and tidy and the bed was super comfy. We had a brilliant night's sleep! Even though it was a Friday night as well We didn't try the food this time as we'd been walking in the Peak District and just wanted a quick pie and chips from the chippy opposite the pub can definitely recommend also and a lazy evening in the room. You've got everything you need in the room - tea and coffee with a little kettle, plenty of storage space for your things and a nice little bathroom. I love that you have a private entrance up into the room, so you don't have to travel through the bar. We'll definitely come back again. Next time we'll eat in!
Not a great start to be told we would have to leave our bikes in an unsecured patio area which meant we had to remove wheels. Eventually put the bikes in a store room. Food, drink and rooms were all ok. This place doesn't provide breakfast so we were recommended a cafe over the road which didn't open til 9AM. Hence, we couldn't vacate the room by 10AM, much to the annoyance of room service.
Popped in here for a late Sunday dinner as nowhere else in the area served food past 5pm.nWhat a little gem this place is.nGood choice on menus, specials and 2 for £12 cocktails every day all day!nWe all had a roast dinner, you can have 2 or 3 different meats for a couple of extra quid and my goodness, this basically gets you a 2 for 1 dinner!nPortions are huge and food was delicious. Just what we were after. Thank you, highly recommend
We were passing through Ashbourne, looking for somewhere to eat. What attracted us to this pub was the fact that they had the menu displayed outside the pub, and the pub looked quite welcoming.nUpon entering, we weren't disappointed.nWe sat at a table and quite quickly given a menu by a member of the staff, who also informed us that the specials board offered some additional meals.nWe made our choices and soon presented with some wonderful food. I would say that the portions were very generous as well as tasting fresh and hot.nIf we pass through Ashbourne again, we'll certainly be eating here again. Thank you
