We dropped into the Foresters Horley after dinner at the Shiraz Turkish restaurant, keen to cap off the evening with a quick pint before heading back to the hotel. The pub has plenty of charm, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and a genuine local vibe. The staff were friendly, and a good mix of regulars and newcomers made it easy to settle in.nnIt was lively while we were there, with groups chatting and watching the sport. We enjoyed sitting outside and chatting with some of the locals, who were welcoming and up for a laugh. However, our visit took an unexpected turn, as a heated argument inside quickly escalated into full-on fisticuffs, which, despite the staff's best efforts, spilt outside. It was certainly dramatic, but everyone seemed to take it in stride. We took it as our cue to finish up and grab a taxi back to the hotel.nnOn balance, Foresters Horley is a proper British local: friendly, bustling and full of life. Just be aware, it can get a bit rowdy! All things considered, it made for a memorable end to our night in Horley.
Our second visit for Sunday Lunch but was very disappointed this time. Generous portion size, meat nice, but veg and potatoes not great, particularly the potatoes. Lovely pub though, with very nice atmosphere.
This is our 2nd time stopping here while getting ready to fly back to The Great White North aka Canada from Gatwick & again it did NOT disappoint, other than the weather not cooperating, meaning we sat inside rather than enjoying their rear courtyard. They have daily specials, all reasonably priced to us It is 1 train stop North of LGW, or about 1 15 - 120 minute walk trough some lovely forested trails. I do note this is NOT high end, it is simple quality, flavourable comfort food !!- SPA007
We thought we would give everyone a break from cooking and washing up this year, so we took a punt on the Foresters Christmas meal, yes, on Christmas day itself. Booking and communication was excellent before the big day, and on arrival our table was laid out nicely with a tablecloth, crackers, place names, two unexpected complimentary bottles of fizz plastic flutes, but it is a pub of course! Five courses was an absolute bargain for under £60, the staff couldn't do enough for us. All the food was good, none of us could clear our plates as the portions were so generous.
A good-sized pub with plenty of seating. It’s fairly no-frills, but seems like a nice place to watch football and hangout with friends. The full breakfast was pretty good! The coffee wasn’t bad either. Nice staff. This is a simple and straightforward English pub.
