Our first visit here. Blown away by the food / decore / service. Everything. I was presented with a vegan / vegetarian menu, with about four starters / mains / puddings. SO nice to have PROPER choices NOT just the one ' option.' The food was amazing. Nothing could be improved on. I hope the staff are able to keep up their high standards & enthusiasm. Will look forward to returning. Vegetarian options: Just GREAT. SO refreshing to have such a choice. Parking: Ample parking.
My partner and i had dinner here recently and it was fantastic. We live locally and we couldn't believe the transformation inside from what it used to be like. Very pretty! Food was lovely and the staff were welcoming and attentive. We will be back.
I visited last night with friends from work. We had a fantastic evening. The food was great, atmosphere and decor was wonderful. The staff were really helpful and friendly. We had a big table of 20 and did not wait on drinks or food. I will definitely be visiting again. PS - try the rhubarb special cocktail, it's fabulous!!! Thank you to all
Sunday roast: lovely food, generous portions, veg surprisingly delicious and well-seasoned, staff friendly and attentive. Happy to make alcohol-free cocktails on request for my massively pregnant self! They serve great espresso as well yes, even the decaf. Sticky toffee pudding highly recommended. And you should check out the size of the onion rings they serve with the burger. Fantastic although swimming in grease, not that you expect a health food. Horseradish sauce disappointing, needs to be much spicier!!
We visited here for the first time a few weeks back for my hubbies birthday. We were able to pop in on a Friday evening and get a table We were seated right next to the kitchen serving hatch so could hear everything going on, from waiters and waitresses being corrected and kitchen banter all that was missing was Gordon Ramsay Our waiter was punctual, smart, polite, kind and quite, I was driving and he made me a special mocktail not on the menu. The food is A+++++++, well presented, tasted amazing and made for a really special dinner. Car park had lots of space and looked lovely with the shingle and wooden space dividers. I would 110% recommend this restaurant and is a very nice addition to Wivenhoe. If you want a giggle sit near the kitchen, the chefs banter and jokes with each other is hilarious and made our evening.
Had the 3 course valentines day menu. The whole experience was great, the service was on point and the food portions were very good for the price. There was no Pressure for tips or anything, despite me ready to. Give one in the card machine.
What a fantastic transformation. The place looks like a completely different venue. The staff were all super nice and looked after us and the food was spot on, the chef did a great job with the steak. I would highly recommend Food: 5/5
Massive upgrade and a really nice place inside and out now, the service was really good and we even got an apology and offer to move to another table as a group next to us was very loud it was new years eve tbf so we didn't mind. It's definitely more of a restaurant now compared to pub, so it would be good to split people only having drinks to those having food Great options for food though and all tasted great, meals fairly priced around £15-20 each. Good selection of drinks/cocktails too, again fairly priced £6-10ish. Vegetarian options: Almost half the menu is veggie maybe vegan too Parking: Good number of spots round the back by the main entrance
Congratulations to the owners on their transformation of the flag. Lovely space, nice beer and great food. Service great too. It's more of an eating than drinking place now, but just what wivenhoe needed.Food: 5/5
Large family lunch before the funeral of my Dad, buffet after the service for family and friends. Food was fantastic, service was excellent. Family and friends also stayed overnight in The Flag’s lovely rooms. Big thank you to Adam, Nicola, Adel, Jon, Ollie, Josie and Ella.
