"A proper Yorkshire pub, serving great honest wholesome food, fine wines and spirits and real hand pulled ales. Our food is served both in the bar or snug and restaurant every lunch and evening. We are recognised as one of Yorkshire's best traditional village Inns, with flagstone floors, wooden beams and cosy log fires make for an ideal backdrop to enjoy a fabulous meal, a relaxed evening in the pub, or the perfect B&B break."

We have booked a table for dinner here on Christmas Eve and we weren't disappointed. The atmosphere was cozy and festive, the staff were friendly and our meal was just perfect. I had a root vegetable soup for starter followed by a flat iron steak and my wife went for a baked brie also followed by a steak. All dishes were served promptly and were delicious. Sadly we had no space left for desert but by looking at other's, I am sure they were also tasty. We frequently visit this lovely little place when we are in the area and I'.sure that we will be back again soon in the New Year. Thank you all for the lovely eveneing!
A welcome retreat when out walking, friendly welcome, excellent cask beer, very well kept. Didn't eat, but the menu seemed fish oriented and the food smelled and look great. Cosy atmosphere, just what you want from a village pub.Service: 5/5
Amazing service to say how busy this place was. Kayleigh, our server was brilliant, funny and attentive. Making us feel comfortable being somewhere new. Food was great. New offer of 2 x stone baked pizza's, chips and 2 pints of lager for £30. Tasted amazing and brilliant value. Nearby activities: Stayed at the glampimg yurts only 1 mile walk away.
Lovely picturesque pub. Manager/ landlord was a great host and made us feel welcome. Had issues with the food and spoke to the manager/ landlord and felt the issues were taken on board.
A quaint traditional pub. Just don't hit your head on the roof. The pub can be quite busy during lunch time if the back room is not open. Pub floor is dog friendly, but vegetarian options are there - but limited.
I'm visiting York from Australia to spend 6 months with my mother and father who live here. Our common thing to do together is have a weekly lunch out anywhere within 20 to 40 minutes drive of York. There is a lot of choice, a lot of competition & I suppose that's what motivates me to write what for me is a rare review. I'm not going to dissect the individual parts of the experience but it was just all off colour. I've probably tried 25 pub lunches over the last 5 months & I'd have to say this was 4/10. Food ... standard, drinks nice but beer too cold and not offered any table water. I think the best summary for the lunch was the vibe was just not warm enough when there is so much to choose from in the area. It was 6.5 degrees outside yet no fire on so we felt cold. The meet and greet whilst ok just felt cold. In fact the whole experience left us feeling ... just cold. I throw it in as an example, last week we ate at The Blacksmiths Arms - Westow near Malton. Food prices similar but the gulf in the atmosphere, service and food quality was huge. Sorry Fauconberg team, I don't mean to harm your business but your pub which is a lovely old world charm place needs to up its game to compete with what's out there.
Visited as couple with our dog. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was very good. Prices for evening meal were around 15-20 pounds a mealService: 5/5
We stopped here for lunch. The atmosphere was lovely, log burner on, very cosy and quaint. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, all the food is locally sourced. The perfect country pub!Service: 5/5
Traditional country pub in every sense of the word. Beautiful unspoilt interior, roaring fires and excellent food and real ale all for a sensible price. Also very welcoming to muddy boots and muddy paws alike! Walkability: Perfect spot to call in after doing the Byland Abbey circular Food & drinks: The pies are hearty and delicious. Perfect post-walk fodder!
Amazing place, had 1 nights accommodation, very friendly hospitality. Breakfast was perfect. Beautiful area. Highly recommended Rooms: Small but historically significant Nearby activities: Amazing buildings and area Food & drinks: Excellent
