Had a couple of beers in the garden. Its a big garden and as it was a cloudy day, it wasn't too busy. Unlike a sunny weekend when its crazy busy.nnThe service was poor as there was only one person behind the bar. They opened the converted horsebox bar, but for some weird reason beer is served in plastic glasses. Consequently everyone was going inside for drinks, which led to even worse service.nnThe biggest letdown was the pizza. They have a great pizza oven in the garden, but the pizza was bland and tasteless. It looked and tasted like a frozen store bought one. I wouldn't bother going there again, as theres plenty of choice on the bath Rd.
Proper PROPER Pub. Wonderful court yard garden . Comfy chairs and fireplace inside. Real Ale, Rotation of guest Ales. Quiz nights and happy cheerful atmosphere. No loud music no electronic games dogs welcome
I went for a Sunday roast but did not enjoy the quality of the food at all. The meat was tough like rubber boots, the potatoes felt reheated from yesterday. Gravy was very thin. Yorkshire puds were hard. Cheltenham has so many good places for a Sunday roast but I did not like this. However, the service was good. The staff are nice.
My friend Jack had a pet ferret called Michelangelo that he dressed like an artist by putting a hat on it and little shoes and an outfit. The other day the ferret died and I took Jack here to try and lift his spirits and it was so nice. He had a bowl of peas and a coke and the bar staff were really understanding when he started crying and trying to take off his trousers and the police got involved. All in all a great experience!
We both had braised beef with bacon & mash and key lime pie for total of £50. It was glorious. The chef deserves an accolade. My two and half pints of best bitter were fabulous too.nThe staff and management are the best and for me this is the best eatery in Cheltenham.
