Visited Wetherspoons and found it cleaner than the ones in London, though not spotless. Service was fast, which was a plus. I ordered the classic fish and chips—tasty enough—but they forgot the peas, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the overall experience was decent and good value for money.
Everything was really great, prices included. My 2nd and last visit... the 2 staff members at the bar were an epic fail, causing me to walk out before I could even order. They have clearly stated, on signs and on menus, to order at the bar if you need to. I needed to because I wanted to exchange eggs for mushrooms. They wouldn't let me order at the bar and shuffled me with a pram around the restaurant 3 times without helping me.
One of the better spoons in the area. Large outdoor area. Booths indoors. Clean toilets. Food on app if that's your thing. Can't complain. I stop here for a break on a cycle route.nSome bike locks would be handy.
Huge Wetherspoons. Early Essex drinking shed. Pub is old and historic, huge inside.nLarge outdoor seating area, and a car park. Food is good, service okay. Much better spoons than the Southend central one. Always happy to return.
Please avoid this placenWas served pork instead of vegetarian sausages. The waitress insisted it was vegetarian; made us try it again. I am usually so chill about these situations - mistakes happen. Just requested the food to be made again. We both insisted it was pork and we didn’t want to eat it. Manager refused a refund and was immediately aggressive. When I asked to take a picture to evidence the food was not eaten, so I could refund through the app, the manager said it was thrown away. This completely ruined my evening, the table next to us witnessed the whole thing as both the waitress and manager were immediately aggressive. It seemed like they were immediately on the defence anticipating a massive complaint. This could have been a serious allergen related incident. I get it having worked in similar roles that you have your guard up but there’s never any need to take this approach with customers making a good faith refund request :
