Stopped by for a quick drink. Really nice old building,I imagine it has lots of history, with a friendly old pub vibe to the place. Located at the start of the main road through Leigh-on-Sea. Friendly, welcoming and helpful service. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Food menu available but we didn't stay to eat. Small beer garden at the side and a large beer garden in front of the pub across the road gets very busy on sunny days. This is a solid 5 star pub. Definitely worth a visit.
I had fish and chips here, it was delicious with a side of creamy mushy peas. The ambiance is lovely, friendly staff. Just got a bit lost looking for the toilets.
Nice pub, lovely and warm in the bar area with an open fire. Then I ordered the Nicholson fish n chips and went through to the restaurant side which was barely luke warm with a small gas flame fire giving off barely any heat. The food came which didn't look overly appealing upon presentation, then I removed the batter to reveal brown tinged so called haddock. While it had no bad taste it was either past it's best or was some cheap alternative. I would have complained if anyone came to check how the meal was but too busy gossiping behind the bar. Will not return for food.
Waterside pub by the sea. Interesting vintage atmosphere and extensive outdoor seating area.nnThe fish and chips is excellent as are their pies.nnGood selection of beers and spirits.

The whitewashed façade welcomes you with a cascade of golden lights and decorations, transforming a winter evening into a proper fairy tale with twinkling stars and wreaths creating that quintessential countryside pub charm.nInside, you're wrapped in the warmth of old England: wooden beams, soft lighting, and Christmas garlands framing the serving hatch. The kitchen delivers generous portions - from delicate soup crowned with crispy root vegetable chips to hearty pasta with meat and pickles. Simple but soulful food that warms you after a long journey.nThe Crooked Billet is exactly the kind of place where you want to linger longer, savoring a moment of peace away from the urban rush.
