I have been a member of The Edge for around five years, since the start of my PhD. Overall, I have used the facilities regularly, but the booking situation this year has been very disappointing.nnI play badminton frequently and usually book courts to play with friends. I understand that the sports halls at The Edge are sometimes used as exam rooms during the exam period, which already limits access for paying members. However, when badminton courts are available at the Gryphon Sports Centre, they do not appear to be bookable through the online system.nnInstead, members have to call by phone to book a court, which is inconvenient and not clearly communicated. Many members may not even realise that courts are still available because they are not shown online. This creates confusion and makes the booking process feel unfair and unnecessarily difficult.nnPlease review this issue. Badminton courts at Gryphon Sports Centre should be visible and bookable online like other facilities. I would be happy to update or remove this review once the booking system is improved and made more transparent for members.
As a university gym, it’s very convenient and committing for me to go straight after my classes, since I’m already on the campus.nnHowever, it’s unfortunate that the amount of users has been hugely increased ,making it overcrowded and busy the whole day even during the night time.nnAlthough the gym has a decent range of equipment, most machines are occupied most of the time to the point that we have to line up for it. It’s really impossible to get my work out done properly during each visit.nnI have subscribed to a 1 year membership, but recently started considering a 2nd gym, which is a bit frustrating.nnSince a membership is also offered as a package for on-campus accommodation, a number of users has to be monitored closely just to be fair for those who have to pay separately. I also believe that the expansion really needs to be considered in the future to accommodate the growing number of members.
A good gym with a variety of equipment. Friendly and helpful staff. Accessible and quick to get to from any one point on campus. It however often gets too crowded to workout freely without having to dash for the next machine as soon as it's available. Might be a good idea to look into expansion.
Fantastic gym for the money. They have one of the best equipment, their staff and trainers are helpful and friendly, and the exercise lasses are varied and interesting.
This is a nice place for many physical exercises and activities.nI go there regularly for playing and sport activities.nThe cost for membership is quite high for external people. The EDGE needs to come up with a different plan. People really struggle to pay for its facilities and they don't use all of them. For me, the next plan should be to have a membership plan for each facility and keep adding on top of them.nThey have a gym and many other facilities for example, squash, swimming, basketball, badminton, indoor football, cricket, climbing etc. booking required for any of these ones.nThey also gave a nice place for socializing and if you wish to sit and chit chat.nParking is a big issue! And it is paid. Although, it is a big parking area, it is also used by Leeds University people and hence super busy all the time and hard to find a parking space. Because of the parking cost, it makes the visit even more expensive for external visitors. Other than that, it has wheelchair accessibility. 6 electric cars charging socket and all functioning. If you are lucky you might find one of them free.nPeople are nice and friendly. They do have gym or swimming trainers as well.
