Beautiful and serene. Free to all and a great walk though glorious fields. Also, there’s an interesting accompanying story about the grey lady who roams the area. We only spent a few minutes here, so I would definitely return to explore more. Enjoy!
The Dark Hedges of Northern Ireland stand as an unmissable sight for any wanderer. This enchanting corridor of beech trees captivates with its storybook charm. Its selection as a backdrop for the famed Game of Thrones series is evident, offering an unparalleled and striking scene. These venerable beeches, standing for over two hundred years, cast a spellbinding aura difficult to express. Strolling down this natural arcade, one is enveloped in awe and marvel. The interplay of light and shadows through the leafy dome above promises splendid photographic moments. Despite its fame among travellers, the Dark Hedges still offer serene interludes. Early morning or late afternoon visits are ideal for evading the tourist bustle and immersing oneself in the site's splendour. To truly embrace the Dark Hedges, journey by foot. A relaxed amble under the boughs of these ancient trees affords a full appreciation of this marvel. Comfortable footwear is a must for an unhurried exploration of this beguiling locale. Ultimately, the Dark Hedges are an essential stop for travellers to Northern Ireland. The site's enchantment and allure are sure to leave an indelible impression, crafting an unforgettable encounter.
Hmmmm. Not sure it was worth the drive. The trees are cool and all but, to pay 5 euros to walk on a street lined with trees may have been overrated. You can check out the photos to see if it is something you want to spend your day seeing.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
There were around 200 trees before, but now only 95 trees exist, so the place is not as dense as it is seen on G.O.T. If you see the place from its scenic beauty, the trees are beautiful. The place was a good landscape, and luckily we got good weather, so we enjoyed the walk.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
If you are a GOT fan , this place should be on your bucket list. Make sure to go early in the morning to discover its beauty without a crowd. Nearby parking available.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A must for Game of Thrones fans. The beech trees road is beautiful in any time of the year. There is a restaurant with good food and Guinness on tap there so feel free to stop to rest there and enjoy the surroundings.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Visited simply because I'd seen amazing photos from here. It is rather an ordinary road with what at first appears to be unremarkable trees but as soon as it's in front of a lens...it just delivers this great atmosphere. You need to park in a designated carpark just past the Hedges road.
The Dark Hedges, aka Kings Road is the feature best known as a filming location for Game of Thrones. This single road had beech trees planted along the driveway of an estate over 400 years ago which over time made quite the incredible display for visitors across those four centuries. While this site is worth seeing in person, be sure to look at the famous photos vs. the ones I just did personally. As we were told by our guide unfortunately you can see the trees were so overgrown and rotting that they had to be pruned and cut back. They will probably never be as magnificent as the day were filmed in GoT and likely in the next few years not worth visiting as much. See them while you can!
Good to say you were there if you are a fan of G.O.T. There has been a few trees down due to storm damage. Parking Good I would say best time to visit is when trees are I full leaf
It's nice, I guess? Visited other GoT filming sites and stopped by this one as well. In the end, it's just a road with trees and parking was way too expensive for a quick 5 minute stop.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
