It's a nice little country pub with country style dining. What I'd describe as an old style pub without loud music and serves tasty home food! Plus an area for children. You can eat in the restaurant section or have a drink at the bar. Worth a visit if passing.
We moved to the area 2 years ago and had used the Crown a few times but it was mid covid so wouldn't class ourselve as regulars. However, last November we started using the Crown more regularly. We started with Sunday lunches, dogs sitting under the table, good choice of beers, super friendly staff and not only good value but consistently great quality. Head Chef Adrian & owner is a hidden gem in this little village I can tell you!!!! Front of house is Marion, always friendly and accommodating, fitting us in even when super busy. She really runs her team well and nothing is too much trouble. More recently we celebrated my fathers 84 Birthday at the Crown. Adrian and I discussed and agreed the menu for 18 people and he delivered an absolutely outstanding 3 course meal... the headline dish - a perfectly cooked Rib of Beef.... delicious and a family favourite! And as always, Marion was on hand orchestrating the evening with ease! I cannot recomend this restaurant pub more and i have been to few ;-.... combining fine food with a local, family run pub atmosphere.... go there, you will not be disappointed!!!
Had a very pleasant unbooked late Saturday lunch here, The staff were very nice, the food was good with plenty of choice ,and the ambiance was great, the open fire in bar soon took your mind off all snow outside, the village had lots of very pretty lights, all in all a very nice experience
What an excellent Sunday dinner. Massive portions beef a little too bloody for my liking but that's personal choice. Desserts were amazing. Great service
Visited the crown pub for first time yesterday with 2 friends. Landlady & staff very pleasant & looked after us well. Food was lovely....I had fish & chips. Only gripe for me was they didn't sell Carling or Fosters lager , but overall visit was enjoyable.
Enjoyed a pleasant lunch with friends on a weekday. Service was good and there were several vegetarian options which sounded nice.
Went here at the weekend for an evening meal. Very quiet. Staff welcoming and polite. A couple of the main courses chosen were smaller portions than we've previously experienced here but still tasty. One of our party said that the gluten free fish and chips was very good. Charged £4:50 for a pint of lemonade hence 3 stars instead of 4.
Been with my friend before on a date was so good I decided to take my parents out for a meal we all had a amazing time. Staff are so friendly amazing food nice well kept gardens and outdoor seating area for outdoor dining. Very good choice of ciders, beers and ales on tap at great prices. Will definitely be coming back soon
Passing through from shuttleworth and fancied a Guinness before the sun disappears for the winter. I was met by incredibly friendly bar staff who brought our drinks to the benches in the garden. The children had a great time running around and playing on the slides. Looking forward to visiting again for a Sunday lunch and a pint next summer.
Can always be relired upon for a Sunday lunch, however this time round the service was slow. We were a party of 10 so some allowance. Personally I was disappointed with the beef, just got a bad cut with to much gristle. Worked out quite expensive for me.
