Great to see this pub back open. The new team has done a great job restoring the pub, which is bright and inviting with plenty of space for families and groups. We visited for Sunday lunch and the quality of food was underwhelming - a cheaper topside of beef was served despite a high roast price for the area, and paired vegetables were unconventional courgette and shredded cabbage. Starters including the pictured salt & pepper squid are much better.
This pub is an absolute gem! The Sunday roast lamb was absolutely delicious; by far one of the best roast dinners I've ever had. The portions were plentiful loads of veggies, scrummy roast potatoes, lashings of gravy and extra and the Cauliflower cheese was delicious.nThe service was fantastic; helpful, friendly and cheerful staff and with a great choice of beer! No faults at all
We stopped in on the spur of the moment. The beer garden is large with plenty of seating, dog friendly, and a good aspect to catch the sun through the day, I had the fish and chips and went large for an extra £3.00, my wife a burger.nAll I can say is that it was beautiful, cooked perfectly with crispy batter and lovely chips. The portion was huge, and that is an understatement. The burger was cooked perfectly nWe will definitely be back
Enjoyable evening. Excellent service and the waitresses were wonderful! Food was good but my steakno pictures was a bit tough. Otherwise just lovely
We had a mini break staying in Lydney. I asked a random guy on the high street where was good to eat? He told us to drive to the next village and try here....WoW we had a wonderful evening just me and my teenage son. What great service great food we made use of the games available & had a few rounds of cards other games were available! It was great to have a time without the normal distraction of mobile phones or TV it can be hard with a teenager. Thanks for have these games available!
