A quaint little place tucked right out of the way, the low ceilings, wooden furniture and broad fireplaces make you remember what an original British pub is like. We had the Sunday roast menu £40pp and the bill for two, 3 courses, came to just over £100 total. The food was delicious and the servers polite and caring. Would recommend people to try. My only critique is that the menu is littered with Americanisms - scallions not spring onions for example. Shame.
Fantastic pub experience! We came for a Sunday roast and had an incredible meal. The ambience is insanely amazing, the service 10/10, and the menu interesting, diverse, and filled with treats. We will definitely be back ASAP!
The ambience and the service was lovely. Staff is super friendly and courteous. Only a couple of things that could have been better - some more vegetarian options possibly and I found the food a bit more oily than I would normally expect. But it was very tasty so nothing much to complain about.
We came for lunch and didn't want to leave. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Great spot for it, too.
My wife, whose birthday it was, my eldest son and I enjoyed a fabulous meal last night. The setting, food were outstanding and the service exemplary. The young lady assigned to our table was absolutely spot on, attentive without being constant, friendly knowledgeable and smiley. We will definitely return and I would thoroughly recommend this venue. A wonderful evening.
Attended concert by Nick Heyward. Absolutely A* evening. Excellent food. Great music. Hugely entertaining. Vegetarian options: I had local Bix cheese, baby spinach and garlic filo. Gorgeous! Parking: Plentiful and on site
Could do better. Restaurant seating area for music tent, cold, affecting the meal. Seafood nicely cooked and flavoured but steak disappointing. Chunky chips poorly cooked. Condiment offering insufficient waiting staff should ask what's required when taking order. Sticky toffee pud, nice. Tea, tepid and stewed. Coffee nice. Parking: Adequate but rustic Wheelchair accessibility: Not recommended
Delicious food and extensive menu to chose from. We arrived on a Sunday without a booking and they happily accommodated us outside. The sea bass and builders tea creme brûlée were both excellent.
Another great meal with great service in a lovely atmosphere at the Crooked Billet. Food all tasted freshly cooked with fresh ingredients. Great menu with a really good range of options. I started with the mussels, which had lovely texture and flavour, and came with a nice cream sauce and crusty bread. Followed that with the Stone bass, which was perfectly cooked and came with some fresh veg, which was also nicely cooked with just the right amount of crunch. My partner had the cow au vin, which had some nice flavours, but the chicken was a bit dry. Finished it off with the lemon tart, which came with some cream and pears and a nice crunchy top. Service was great throughout, we'll definitely be back.
Sunday lunch was excellent. Portion size almost too big, but that's hardly a criticism! Service was excellent, but it was busy. Marvellous surroundings great atmosphere.Food: 4/5
