Southern Co-op is a large, independent co-operative society operating in 11 counties across the south of England. We have been owned and traded by people across the southern region for over 140 years with our main business being food, where we have a network of over 200 stores.

I visited this Co-op early in the morning before heading to an event at Bewl Water. I just needed to grab some breakfast and drinks quickly. Unfortunately, my experience was very mixed.nnOne staff member younger lady was extremely friendly, helpful, and full of smiles — exactly the kind of service that makes you feel welcome even at 7am. On the other hand, another member of staff older lady gave me the complete opposite impression. From the moment I walked in, she looked very unhappy to see me, and when I politely asked where to find a carry bag at the self-checkout, she wouldn’t even give me a proper answer. Her body language and disengaged look made me feel very unwelcome.nnAs someone who doesn’t look the same as the majority of people here, it’s hard not to feel like I was being treated differently for reasons beyond just “having a bad day.” That’s a really disappointing thing to experience, especially in 2025, in a shop that’s supposed to serve everyone equally.nnIt’s a shame, because this one person’s attitude overshadowed what could have been a perfectly normal visit. I hope management takes note, because customers deserve to feel respected and acknowledged, no matter who they are.
Absolutely shockingly rude, poor and unsympathetic. Whilst at this establishment to make use of paypoint services to redeem 2 emergency cash fuel vouchers I was told no we don't do that and don't know how !!!!nPersonally I find this to be completely unacceptable especially due to the fact they refused to even try to do the transaction. The process is so simple and straightforward that a 10 year old child could do it as it simply requires inputting the voucher code into the paypoint system and then follow the dummy proof instructions on the screen. Unbelievable and unacceptable !!!!

Don't understand why prices change so much. Often very expensive compared to supermarkets, but have me by short and curlies as live near by and don't drive
