We came to this Indian restaurant after we had just arrived in London. We didn't regret that decision. The food was truly delicious and the our order came fast enough. The only thing that was simply so-so was the waiters' friendliness and that is simply nitpicking. I can truly recommend this restaurant.
The food is amazing and I have ordered takeaway many times. I recently visited for a meal and on Wednesday they do a great deal which includes a starter, side main and rice or naan. I highly recommend Clapham Tandoori and the service was great. We had a great meal and felt attended to for our every request. Definitely service with a smile.
I had gone here with my sister to meet my mum for somewhere to eat and as we all love Indian food, my mum was advised to go here for lunch. Although the service was good and the environment was alright I disliked the food. It reminded me of something that was heated in a microwave then placed in a nice dish and served to me. The meat was touch and fatty. I wouldn't say I would never go back but I think I would go back there to make my last judgement as there might be a different chef. The service was excellent and the music was nice
I have never ever been so insulted by a curry. The delivery was shocking! 40 minutes to start then they phoned to say they would be 30 minutes later than that. Then it took an extra 20 minutes from that. The food turned up cold. I phoned to complain I got hung up on 3 times. When I finally got to speak to someone they told me to re-heat the rice. I asked for my money back and they asked me not to eat the food and they would collect it the next day and give me my money back. They never did give me it back and I phoned to complain again and they said I could have a free curry... I WOULD NEVER EAT HERE!
Decent chicken and curry. The food is definitely good but the interior design definitely lacks imagination - it felt dull and boring and it shouldn't have affected my mood but it did. However, the staff is very friendly and compensates for this minor personal negative I found. Yesterday I was here again and the service and food were still fabulous.
Had a fantastic meal at Clapham Tandoori just after Christmas Day 2012. Service was very friendly an helpful and the food was a twist on the usual Indian fair, very rich and colourful bursting with unusual flavours. Never quite had a curry like it and I've had a lot of curries! Will definitely be visiting again
Food and service GREAT. But beware of the bill. They list items, include a service, add VAT "Tax at 20%" . When you go to pay by Credit Card the card machine asks if you would like to add a gratuity. It tuns out that the "Service" does NOT go to the service staff. Suggest you pay the bill minus the service / 20%, and pay a suitable service in cash to the GREAT service staff. The management have not really worked this one out.
My go-to Indian takeaway. There are traditional Indian meals on the menu, always freshly prepared and perfectly savoured. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant so you can grab a bite in, as well. They do deliveries so you can have a tasty Indian meal on a rainy Sunday for lunch at home.
Quite an expensive place, but for quality it can't be beaten this side of the river. You can taste the distinct lack of oil in the cooking and so you come away not feeling too guilty. The sauces are pretty rich but for a once a month cheat meal its pretty good! - Recommend the veg curries.
Clapham Tandoori offers both takeaway Indian fare and sit in meals. The collection point for takeaway is away from the main restaurant so you aren’t disturbed and may enjoy your meal in peace. The food has been delicious on every visit this must be our sixth! and not oily as I sometimes find some Indian restaurant meals tend to be. I have to say that the service has always been wonderful with our server being attentive yet leaving us in peace to eat undisturbed. A brilliant place to visit for a meal out.
