Great country pub with good portions. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Was packed when we visited last Thursday but nonetheless very good! It’s 1 of 4 pubs in the company and very highly rated by all concerned. Parking is limited but the pub does live up to its vibes! We had fish and chips and also wild Mushroom Linguine with bread and olives to start. The staff were very attentive and regularly came to check on us. The drinks menu is vast and there are loads of tables! If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a visit!
It was a perfect Sunday feast! We were a big group without reservation. The pub is enormous, and we didn't have to wait at all. The menu is rich. We got Shoulder Rig and Beef. They were not only delicious but also the portions were very generous. The staff is amiable. We'll definitely visit here again. Thanks for everything!Food: 5/5
Very popular pub serving tasty food. The menu is extensive and there is a good selection of real ales and wines. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and attentive. The pub has parking for only a few cars but it is possible to park nearby in the road nearby. Advisable to book ahead.Food: 4/5
Awful experience!! Our experience of the food was frankly very underwhelming, one of our party had pork which was 80% fat and the rest meat, the burgers were awful, obviously out of a frozen pack, the fries were distinctly average, the soup was thin and tasteless. The pub was not busy, but we felt hassled from sitting down, the plates were cleared after the first course and one of our party was still eating - basic stuff…….This is NOT a cheap pub and we came away feeling totally ripped off. We had been in the past and it was good, but we shan’t be going again, Oh and there is ZERO parking…..
Thank you taking us early amazing service food and room we were eating in. thank you for the lovely birthday surprise for our very dear friend she loved it. Our waitress was very professional and kind we will definitely be booking again. Dietary restrictions: I’m GF and I had lots of choices
Stopped in as a break during a long muddy walk and had a super plate of ham egg and chips with a super pint of local ale. The ham was thickly cut, locally sourced and delicious. Lovely local eggs and super home-made piccalilli. Friendly efficient service. Lovely historic coaching Inn. The room was great and some super historic photos on the walls - Liz Taylor visiting amongst them!
Went here for lunch and left disappointed. I hadn't been here for a while as I had left unimpressed before. The issue is the price of the food does not match the quality. I have had much better food for much less. The pub itself though is a lovely setting and staff are polite.
Was so looking forward to our Christmas dinner but it was totally ruined by the location of our table.I had seen the lovely pictures of the beautiful room with the fire but we ended up on a table around the other side of you bar area which was the walkthrough for the toilets. Like Piccadilly Circus. The staff offered to move us but our dinner was on the table .I actually cried as this wasn't by any means a cheap meal ,so disappointed won't be returning.
Had a few different meals from the mains list after a run through the countryside with some equally mad individuals. They were all superb the meals and the interaction with our server was above and beyond, despite the busy hour. I would go again, preferably less sweaty and muddy. Vegetarian options: There's a decent vegan burger on the menu, all of the delicious calories and no animals were harmed!
We came as a group of 8 and we immediately served 2 flat Amstels of which were sent back. Out of our 8 main courses that were ordered, 4 were unacceptably awful. 2 of us ordered Sausages and Mash to receive only 3 burnt sausages and a few spoonfuls of mash at £15 a portion. Another 2 of the party ordered a "Gourmet" burger and the only thing that was Gourmet about it was the price. The bun was dry and the patty was thin, dry and flavourless. I think that the Chaser seriously needs to look at reviewing either their prices, their portion, or their quality of good or ideally, all of the above. Not a great experience at all. The only positive is the service, of which was great.
