This company cold called me on my mobile, asking regarding my cavity wall insulation. They could not tell me where they had got my phone number from, they could not tell me which address they were phoning about, so quite simply this was a call to get someone around to tell meh that I would need to spend thousands of pounds on something I didn’t need. Don’t trust this company. They phone from call centres, which you cannot directly phone back to and which are not based at the head office. Obviously they are all sales people. Take no notice from these calls.

When I discovered CIGA was telling people they used independent survey companies, who turned out to be owned by CIGA committee members, I called them fraudulent - they tried to sue me for defamation when I named and shamed. These people are ruining peoples lives every day - clueless, brainless idiots driven by money - if you have to deal with them, employ independent professional building surveyors who know all about damp houses - and get a Court Ready expert witness report - you will need it - don't expect empathy or honesty from these sewer dwellers. This is a questionnaire, with answers, from Theresa Perchard - their 'Consumer Champion' - who has done little or nothing to improve CIGA despite being paid a princely sum to do so: Questionnaire from Teresa Perchard as she leaves CIGA. Please could people grade the first 5 questions from 1-10 1 Excellent and 10 Useless 5 average. Please feel free to comment as well . N/A if not applicable 1 )overall views of CIGA's performance in dealing with consumer problems; 10 - useless - words such as 'arrogant, abusive, uncaring' crop up all the time. 2)whether the information CIGA provides to consumers about how to make a complaint is adequate and if not how it can be improved; 10 - useless and misleading - they turn up and say one thing, then a letter of denial follows later. 3) how stakeholders think the CIGA dispute resolution process is working; 10 - useless - all our clients are extremely upset - some of them regularly ring us in tears 4) how well CIGA is applying its policy on supporting vulnerable customers in practice; 10 - useless - one client is indeed vulnerable and we have extensive CIGA correspondence which absolves them of any involvement despite the house being clearly affected, freezing cold, wet etc. 5) how well CIGA learns from complaints to improve its service and that of registered installers; and 10 - clearly they cant give a damn, as their service just gets worse, and clients are treated with arrogant disregard 6) whether stakeholders have any suggestions for improvement. Yes: Sack the entire management of CIGA. The abusive CEO - whom clients refer to as 'Nasty Nigel' is ineffectual and instils no confidence in anything they do. Re-build the organisation from ground up with totally independent people, all of whom MUST have appropriate experience and qualifications to deal with the issues involved in CWI. Ensure that there is NO conflict of interest - that these people have no financial involvement in selling services or insulation - both directly or indirectly. Ideally they should have no background in chemicals or insulation.

not worth the star and not worth the paper this guarantee was written on..This company has ruined my house and many others! I can only hope the government steps in and ruins this agency the way it has ruined people's homes and healths. And your head of customer services giving you 5 stars says everything about you!! They have not only ruined my home they have taken our savings.money that we were going to use on a wedding! £12,000 worth of damage so far and that's only because family did most of the work.if i was going to use tradesmen it would have set me back about £45,000 And they hadn't even have the decency to reply to calls or emails!only replied when my mp contacted them!!seems looking at twitter they don't answer the phones to anyone.

I had to email 3 times before I was graced with any sort of a response, I then called and managed to speak to the most unhelpful, miserable, patronising and rude human being I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to, I'm afraid I was too angry with the way I was spoken to, to take notice of the individual's name. She didn't answer one question I wanted answered, because she could not be bothered to actually listen to what I was asking and just assumed I was calling to complain. The call ended with me being no nearer to getting a copy of my guarantee and therefore, no nearer to sorting out the damage to my property caused by the poor install of cavity wall insulation to my property. So thanks CIGA, for possibly the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced.

Absolutely useless bunch and totally unhelpful. We were buying a house with cavity wall insulation so we asked CIGA if the could provide any details such as installers and guarantees. They emailed us back to say they can only provide this information to the seller or their solicitors. Anyway we asked the the seller and they provided us with a certificate of 25 year guarantee. So we went ahead and purchased the house only to find out that it's not even backed by CIGA but by private company. I am not sure why CIGA couldn't have just told us that in the first place that they had no record of it on their system as it had nothing to do with them. I would give a lower rating if I could. So a 1 star is very generous.
