Whilst I did stay here several years ago, this is just a review of a visit to the bar. Nice bar. The one real ale was decent. Coffee available too. Friendly service. Nice decor. I expect the two real fires are lit in winter. Well kept toilets. A great place to spend an hour waiting for a train and the toilets are certainly better than on the train station.
Very nice hotel, clean, warm, friendly . Right next to the train station. Only a few parking spaces but you can park in the railway station for 5 pounds a day. Breakfast was nice.Rooms: 4/5
Staff really friendly & helpful. Had a meal, Sunday roast....excellent. Great value as wellService: 5/5
Firstly, focusing on the positives, the staff were incredibly friendly and professional, making the interactive experience wonderful. The room was immaculate and the bar area really lovely. I had 2 issues which spoiled the stay. Firstly, being in room 3 meant I was overlooking the main busy road which was noisy all night. I didn't sleep at all, nor did my adult son; definitely the worst night sleep I've ever had in a hotel. At breakfast, I was initially impressed with the full English and it tasted really nice. Finding a long blonde hair with brown tips in my breakfast and a piece of plastic in my coffee totally spoiled the experience. It's such a shame as it wasn't a cheap hotel and the hair situation was really gross. Thankfully it didn't get into my mouth!
Came to town to go to Holy Island and booked at short notice. The room was spotless and all fittings looked brand new. Breakfasts fantastic. They really helped us out when trains let us down massively. I was so grateful. Thank you Catherine!Rooms: 5/5
What is going on here.... atmosphere of a service station, weird AV. set up, with horse racing on during World Cup.... Friendly staff and good value beer. Needs a bit of work.....
Nice ambience, lovely warm bar area on a winter's night, staff canny and next door to the train station, that'll do nicely.
Just had a lovely short break at The Castle Hotel and I was delighted with the location, with the large airy room and with the superb cleanliness. The staff could not have been more friendly welcoming and accommodating, my vegan requests were met with professionalism and kindness. Super dog friendly and excellent in every way. I will be staying again very soon, thank you.
We ducked in for some tea. Very warm and friendly spot to grab some tea or other pub goodies.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and comfy seats.Service: 5/5
