Visited for lunch today. It was quiet on arrival, but did gradually fill up whilst we were there. The interior is modern, spacious and staff were very welcoming. Good selection of drinks. For food our party had scampi, beef burger, steak and ale pie, and hunters chicken. All our dishes were well presented and good quality/value for money. The menu is typical pub chain style, offering a decent selection of dishes, including starters, mains and desserts. On Sundays they offer a Sunday roast carvery. If passing through Berwick, in my opinion this is a good place for lunch or dinner, fitting into the mid range restaurant/bar category. If your looking for higher grade, a la carte style meals, then this would not be the place to visit.
Very quiet. Waitress with dark hair lovely. Order food without due to allergy but food arrived with, could see staff to complain at time! Company's food would be cold if waited for fresh food for me but told bar maid on leaving who tried to say it was waitress's fault but she clearly wrote my request down. Wont be returning!
Great food at great prices. Superb friendly staff, efficient and chatty with a ready smile. Had the chicken combo, be prepared, these are big portions for big appetites. You won’t be disappointed. We’ll be back to sample more of their menu. Excellent
Myself and my wife went to the meadow house and had food and drinks, all I can say is the drinks were nice. My wife's burger looked like it was cooked 3 time and it was dry very dry and the bacon on it was all fat. My curry was ok as you can't go wrong with a microwave meal. The garlic bread was well what can I say not nice at all and don't know where the garlic was must of been on holiday. Bit of advice get Gordon Ramsey in to help you as you need to do something
Stopped here a few times on the way up to Edinburgh, it has never been a disappointment. Always friendly staff and todays' choice of fish finger and southern friend chicken baguettes with chips was first class. Absolutely recommended.
Poor. Turned up promptly at 1pm for our Sunday Carvery. Now left at 2pm having had no food. We were told that they would call us up table by table and that there were "a couple" of tables to go before us. Half of the time there was nobody at the carvery and we could not understand why we were having to wait if noone was being served. We asked after 45 minutes if it was time for us to go and get our food, and were very plainly told "no" and that we could cancel if we want. The server said she would check and never returned with any more information. Paid for our drinks and received no attempt at an apology for our wait or lack of food. I can fully understand if you are understaffed or if things aren't going to plan on any one day, but either cancel tables or inform your guests accordingly while they wait. The communication was really poor and we simply could not wait any longer with a starving 2 and 3 year old.
Great service, Sandra so friendly and great at her job, she was serving herself, bar and restaurant and did brilliantly, lovely food we only came in for a snack my partner got the fish finger sandwich and I got the southern fried chicken baguette, both cooked to perfection, excellent food and service
To be honest I wasn't going to go here after reading some of the reviews and it has 3.7* out of 5. When I walked in I was pleasantly surprised home bright and well finished it is inside. Looks like it has been recently decorated. Toilets where clean and didn't smell. The pub was quiet. Ordered my food. Prawn cocktail starter and 8oz Sirloin for main. My starter came in about 10 mins. Usually served in a large glass. This time it was on a plate. Well presented and very tasty. Came with fresh brown bread and butter. Next the main. I asked for medium for my steak. Was a little under but still very tasty. A good cut but not the best. Chips where lovely. Service was good and the woman behind the bar was polite and very helpful. Would go again.
Very welcoming establishment. The furthest North pub in England. Great selection of drinks, friendly staff and great food. Excellent!
We'd spent a day exploring Northumberland and found this pub just before we crossed the border into Scotland, it looked good from outside and the inside didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and plenty of it at great prices.
